Most of the time I just really want to disappear.
Idk. It feels like my existence isn't really necessary. My personalty is apparently bad and won't get better. I don't know what to do with my life, so, being a college freshman, that's stressful. I'm socially inept. Some of the "friends" I have made probably aren't good for me because they're so draining and make me even more anxious. I have no special talents even though I would love to learn to draw. I'm always self conscious which sucks since I'm always around people now and can't run away from it. Just. Nothings going good right now. I just needed to vent. |

Are you introverted by any chance?
What are you studying in college? Do you think you can apply art to a job? |

I'm not sure. I ask myself that sometimes but I don't think I am?
Like. I want really badly to be able to talk to people and form relationships with them. However, I have a ridiculously hard time knowing what to do and/or say in new social situations. It's become really stressful, so sometimes I do want to avoid going out. I've been trying to put myself out there by joining clubs, etc. But all it is is making me anxious. I'm studying media which is probably a "useless degree".. someone gave me the advice of majoring in something that makes money and minoring in something art related but I dunno. |

Why not join an art class, and try it out? It doesn't have to be on your campus. It might take the pressure off if it's somewhere else, with nothing riding on it.
I'd suggest life-drawing classes. It can really help to be doing one thing that makes you feel 'connected' to your real self. |

I’m sorry you’re having such a tough time. You might find out that as you put yourself out there more often you feel more comfortable until you get used to it. Focus on finding interesting people and show interest in them. Taking an art class class sounds lovely. Good luck. Sending big hugs.

I'm interested in learning to draw realistically, once my situation is sorted out. There are a ton of great books you can get to draw any way you want, plus there's YouTube. There's some great videos to teach you and help you learn, plus some where you can just watch artists in action. What kind of drawing do you want to do? Realistic? Cartoons? Manga? Fantasy art? Nature? Landscapes? There's so much to choose from!

tumblr a lot of people go through changes in college and sort of become a different person. Being a freshman means you at least have time to try. I’ll admit it’s easier said than done, but not impossible. Have you talked to a professional about this? Many schools offer therapy to students for free. Usually it’s called Student Psychological Services. It helped me.
