someone said maybe i would feel better if i wrote down how i feel............ so here goes....

when i first got trasfered to my local mental health team, i thought they were going to help me, in a way that my old cpn never did.....
at first i guess they did, but now i feel that they cant be bothered with me.
i have made 3 apointments to see my social worker and my community care assistent has made one as well. but all were cancelled..... and the best bit is .... i had to ring or arrive for the apointment before i get told. " sorry your social worker isnt here".
my last apointment was this past wednesday, i had an apointment for 11pm, so i made my way to her office, when i got there i was told "sorry, she's off ill", " she rang this morning and asked us to ring her apointment list tolet them know". so i asked why no-one had phoned me........... and my reply was " she told us who she was ment to be seeing today, and your name wasnt one of them" .
i felt like a fool, if my community care assistent hadnt made the apointment for me , i would of thought i was going mad (madder)
i spoke to my cca, and he showed me in his diary that i had the right date..........
si i have decided i am not going to bother making another apointment, they cant be bothered with me, so why should i comply with the things they have got me to do........
i wash my hands with my local mental health team, like they have with me..............

That too was my experience of the Mental health team here in the uk. I've since had to go private. I see the national health mental health system a token gesture. I am not wealthy, work p/t in a supermarket so my family budget has to suffer some what because of this. But I want to be "well" more than anything else.

I would be furious if something like that happened to me. How very rude and insulting can people be. Did a great job on your self-esteem too I'm sure.

Since I know absolutely nothing about your health system but think you should make someone aware of the pattern of neglect developing. Repeated cancellations, not being notified when they happen and even occur when cca makes appointant. (You may not be the only one experiencing this problem but they won't know if you don't tell them)

You're a great person going through some tough times. Get the help you deserve.

I'm so sorry this has happened, that's so rude, uncaring and invalidating. I would make a complaint and keep fighting for the help you deserve (I doubt that you're the only person who has experienced this or similar locally - they need to get their act together. They are the professionals. )

i am sorry that this has happened to you. i hope you can find some treatment that would help you but i know how hard it is to get the help you need and deserve, good luck in finding what you need , you will me in my thoughts

That is outrageous! Would you be able to write a letter about how you felt and send it to the people involved? At the least, you would know that you stood up for yourself. At the best, you would get an apology. You might make a difference.

i had a freaking dentist who was just like that - had an appointment and find out that it was canceled just as my hubby and i walked in due to overbooking! of course, we dropped that dentist. idiots (whoever treats others that way).

thank you all for your replys. i have decided to complain about the treatment i recieved ,. you are right ....... its not professional and if they are doing this to me , who else are they doing it to........
i am also going to send a letter to my social worker telling her that i would like another social worker , and to explain that no-one deserves to be treated like this...

i have also ALREADY got in touch with my p doc on my own..... (havent gone through social worker) because i think if i have to wait for her to make an apointment for me , i would be waiting till next christmas......(apointment i have got is 23/11/07.....)

Sounds like there was a mixup between the community case assistant and the social worker. I'd talk to the community case assistant and ask them to talk to the social worker and make sure they get their act together so it doesn't happen again. That it is in the case worker's book obviously doesn't meant is in your social worker's! I wouldn't write off the social worker until you find out what actually happened, how the ball got dropped. I wrote a check in one place today and make a mistake entering it in another and the community case worker could have easily done that; written it in the book but not gotten the appointment! or the reverse could have happened on the social worker's end with making the appointment and not writing it down or something. I don't think it had anything to do with you personally, was just really shoddy administration coordination on their part.

i might of agreed with you perna, it may of been an over sight on there part............. yes the first time might of been ., . but the four or fifth time is a bit hard to believe..........
