It's not really a big deal but I have depression (in remission), OCD, SAD, panic disorder, DSPS, aspergers, ADD, diagnosed, and gender dysphoria undiagnosed. Am I particularly unusual not to fit the My mental health concerns?
It's like it's weird to have more than 5 diagnoses when I try to decide what to put on my About me thingy. Am I extra ill or something? Or do others also have a problem at times fitting all their stuff into there? I don't even put the minor stuff in the text above, if I put the less prominent things I'd also have tics and insomnia.

You know mental illness is like buy one get five free. I've got like 2 that are diagnosed and then 2 that haven't been, mostly because I'm avoiding getting an official diagnosis on them. Honestly I don't know if having a lot is normal of not. But if it's what you know then it's normal for you. It's not a flaw on your part so you shouldn't have to feel like it is or in anyway ashamed. Personally I think one is too many. Because dealing with even just one is a pain, so dealing with many is a skill all on it's own. Yeah sometimes I feel like a collection of symptoms more than a human being. I suck at this...But I guess what I mean to say is that your illness or in this case illnesses don't have to define you. So whether you have 1 or 10 you're still a worthwhile person.

This is more a quiet complaint about the forum software making me to choose what stuff I want from the drop down menus. Like, do I want for people to read "this" or "that" about me... IDK, I guess it might be weird not to fit into the software neatly, or maybe it should have more options. It just kind of irks me, a bit. And makes me question if PC is like you know... the wrong place for me to be.

Aren't some just symptoms of the others? Sometimes symptoms of one manafest themselves as a separate illness that may get diagnosed rather than seen as a symptom of the other. Like SAD is all about having depression when there is less sunlight. My friend suffered from SAD when she lived in Alaska & it manafests itself as major depression during those seasons.

having 5 isn't being " extra ill" in fact I can guarantee you that their are many people in the world with even more than 5 remember this: their is always someone worse off than you are |

I thought I was the only freak. Even though I am a compliant patient, pdocs seem to get frustrated with me after a while; I assumed that was because I have so many diagnoses that treatment is difficult. I want to tell those pdocs that they only have to spend an hour every 2 weeks with me, while I....
![]() I am diagnosed with bipolar disorder (either 1 or 2, who knows), PTSD, OCD, GAD, and now she's tossed SAD into the mix and told me to get a light box that in no way can I afford. |

I mean the About me is a way to give people quick access to what you're dealing with. In that context it doesn't matter much what the root cause is. One might simply be interested in someone with the same stuff, yanno.
I'm not sure you can even match yourself up with others with primary concern anymore though. So I guess this isn't so important anyway.

At the height of madness I was diagnosed with: bipolar 1, BPD, GAD, PTSD, Panic disorder and agoraphobia.
All the labels really confused my brain for a while. In the end I'm just me. It's something about you and not who you are. It doesnt make you any worse than anyone else. We all have our challenges. Try not to worry about that which you can not change. |

I'm not even saying anyone would be more insane because the number of diagnoses. I don't think of it like that. You could have a lot more trouble with one severe diagnosis than with a few more minor ones.
But since this topic was moved out of the area I posted it in, it lost all context.
