....and told me his office lost my chart. 7 years worth of medical info. He has no idea where it went. Says he lost about 10 charts in all. Thinks maybe a janitor shredded it? Yeah, right...blame it on the custodian.

With everything else going on right now, I just laughed my *** off. He told me he was happy I was taking the news so well. He didn't want me to be surprised when I come for my appt. tomorrow and get asked to complete all new patient paperwork.

My doctor called....

Okie

Wow okiedokie, I'm surprised that you're taking this so well. I'd be livid. All that private personal information who-knows-where. Why on earth would the janitor be the one responsible for destroying outdated charts or even have access to them.

With the new privacy laws the Dr. cannot even speak to my husband without my expressed written permission. Sounds pretty careless to me. I'd certainly file a complaint and find a new more responsible doctor.

Wow. I can only imagine my reaction if my doctor told me he lost my chart...of course, part of me might be a little relieved. LOLs, there are a few things I'd like him to forget. But, no seriously, that is amazing and I would be a little upset too.

Well now isn't that just freakin wonderful....good grief!!

I do so love your reaction okie.....it was perfect!!

Maybe this is a sign to you.....you have a clean slate and can start all over again! YAY! My doctor called....

I do have to say though that this is a huge wake-up call to folks....get copies of your files and keep them in a safe place at home. Accidents do happen. Also, this office really needs to buck up and put into place a new policy about where charts are kept and who has access to them. They can be in deep doodoo for this.

I'd be really freaked if my Dr. lost my chart - although I'd be kind of relieved if my pdoc lost it ;-). Seriously, your Dr. needs to beef up security procedures.
