Sorry, but I don't come here to have someone tell me to cheer up.

Actually, I find it quite offensive.

Okie, I think the posters were trying to encourage each other and reach out with their comraderie. As for being more positive by changing one's thoughts this is not always
possible if one is hearing voices, having delusions or is
clinically depressed. Then it is vital to get help with meds from a psychiatrist. I have lived with bipolar and paranoid-
schizophrenia for 30 years and it is almost impossible to
think yourself well. But every little bit of comfort helps and I
hope you understand that it is beautiful spirits like these people who offer Christmas cheer and support when many
of us are lonely and in despair. I feel the sentiment here is to help relieve the suffering by focusing on happy ideas if you can. Please don't feel offended as these posters were
basically sharing coping skills. -Greg

I've been feeling pretty ratty because of well ............. life! So today, I will just be grateful that I can come here!

Oh, and like you Tomi, I am very mindful of the way I wrap gifts. I spend hours and hours getting them to look perfect. I am known to waste paper by ripping it off and starting over if I'm not quite satisfied. One day ... maybe .... I'll just use gift bags but I don't know ......... half the fun for me IS wrapping the gift.

I use gift bags quite a bit during the year but not at Christmas since most of my wrapping if for the grandkids. Don't want them to get to the gift THAT easy! GOSH DARN IT!!!!

When I was a kid, and even now, half the fun for me is in a good wrapping, admiring it and then slowly taking it apart trying not to tear. It's that anticipation that is so yummy! GOSH DARN IT!!!!

Oh... and I abhor waste! GOSH DARN IT!!!! I have to really have messed up a gift wrapping to rip it off and start all over again! GOSH DARN IT!!!! It happens, though! Kids toys hardly ever come in a complete box! GOSH DARN IT!!!! So I save cereal and cracker boxes to cover the missing parts. LOL

This year it wasn't fun... until I drug out my stash of boxes and laughed because I had them and applied "mindfulness" to it. GOSH DARN IT!!!!

Oh yes! My son wanted to know why "the Americans" always have such square gifts! Whenever he sees a Christmas movie on TV and there are gifts under the tree - he says they are all so square! Well - now I can tell him why GOSH DARN IT!!!! (We just tend to wrap around the strange shapes ...)

I was thinking about your post when I went for a walk this morning and I remembered this quote I read recently ...

"Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any one thing" Abraham Lincoln

GOSH DARN IT!!!! Tell him it's because they stack easier and they're easier to wrap! GOSH DARN IT!!!!

Well, it seems that ONE negative post was able to kill this thread.

Nobody said you HAD to cheer up. It's like everything else here on this board, take it or leave it! If you don't want to help yourself out of the hole you're in, it's not necessary to bring other people down with you. What the one post did to me and to this thread was really PAINFUL to ME, but I guess that doesn't matter. There obviously was NO mindfulness used on that post... for OTHERS!

If anyone else reads this post, I'm asking you to read the original post about MINDFULNESS and give it a try. GOSH DARN IT!!!!

GOSH DANG IT!!!!

I have a positive....... Took puppy's harness off last night. Seemed every thing I said was no no no no and more no. So off with the harness. Seems sprinkling water on him works best. So he is now laying on my bare feet, no biting. And I changed my tone of voice when I say no. Not an excited no no no.. just a firm no. you know better than that,, and he behaves.
wow huh

I can't wait to get that "thingie" for the camera so I can post a pic. You guys will laff when you see how small puppy . And that such a small dog may have driven me sane.

Thanks for reassuring me, SeptemberMorn. I am still a little
nervous and hoping to fit in here. I guess my apprehension
made me a little too sensitive. But, I would like to wish us all a very Merry Christmas. -Greg

I can manage a LOT more than a couple of smiley faces sept....I can manage confidence, the fact I am a good mum, my kids are BOTH A* pupils, my mum dug her own grave, hung herself with her own rope today, my dad is back in my life....I am happy right now, but some people who have depression are only just going through the first stages and no matter how hard they try will still find it difficult over the holidays and I sympathise with them.....

I wish EVERYONE happy holidays, I hope SEpt you feel better soon, the title of this thread just bothered me a bit cos it was like TELLING people to for gods sake make an effort and I was in no place at the time to make that effort.

However, today has been so special with all my close family, we loved, laughed, built bridges, I lost my mum for ever but she dug her own grave so to speak and I have NO sympathy for her....

I AM HEALING YAY.....Sept, please dry your tears and have a good Christmas......

love to ALL Jin xx

I'm over the initial shock, Jinny. It was personal and I certainly took it that way. Like you, though, I was surrounded by family today, had five grandkids fighting over me and no need for me to say how that thrills me! GOSH DARN IT!!!! GOSH DARN IT!!!! My two local boys and their wives, plus the loving cooperation from the one DIL that I had trouble with certainly put me higher than seventh heaven! GOSH DARN IT!!!!

Our celebration may not have been on the 25th but it was THE BEST Christmas I've had since my house was full of my own kids. There's nothing like kids, ours and our grandkids to affirm that we've done a good job raising them... therefore "we ARE"! GOSH DARN IT!!!!

I'm happy that you had a good day... and I'm happy that I had a good day, too. GOSH DARN IT!!!!

PS I'll be posting pics of today later on tonight. GOSH DARN IT!!!!
