I'm having the same problem and hoped the answer would be here. Pop up blocker is on. When I went to delete my cookies today, (here using the tool on the site) only one was deleted, there are 5 left, is this normal?

Did you go to "edit my profile" & click the choice that says limit ads ?

I'm not getting that... Also, what about installing a pop-up blocker? One comes with Windows XP, but I'm not sure which operating system you have. Google has a pop-up blocker you can download

I think this was discussed in the tech forum several weeks ago. It helps Docjohn with the info he needs for the site and ads, so PC can remain free of charge too? Darn Pop Up Ad here on PC Check to see if the thread is still in technical forum?

I guess it is hard to know whether ALL the ads are needed in their present form to keep the site free for consumers, or whether Doc John could make use of a little less of them and / or less intrusive ones.

I'm sick to death of getting a full page ad that takes a little time before I get the option to skip it - every time I visit the world of psychology blog. Never used to get that, but I'm surely getting it now. So... I won't be visiting the world of psychology blog much.

I dare say that ads DO put off consumers. It is the thing I like the least about this site, truth be told.

We don't get any pop-ups at PC, except all those stupid ads for drugs on the sign-in place. We just don't look at them.

There is a thread about this in Tech Support.

I use my AOL account when I go online - and I only get that particular Ad when I am here on PC, not when I am on any of my other sites or forums.

I have that option selected in my profile, and I have my pop up blocker on, however I still get some stupid survey that pops up. I haven't really paid attention to see if it occurs at any particular part of the forum though...

The full-page ad will be done its run on Jan. 1, so that will go away.

As for the survey ads, I will post a poll to see how annoying they are to users here. If they are voted on to get rid of, get rid of them I will!

Ads, for better or worse, pay for the running of the site. We try and minimize them here in the community, taking into account that many members find them annoying.

Thanks,
DocJohn

I guess I would not mind the Ad if I knew it was being used to help keep PC up and running...... but then again I do remember when a few Ads from the past where on here and they were not from PC - therefore - I an not sure which Ads are personally for PC and which are from annoying people / companies.
