I know I should probably be posting this in Health Support or the Anxiety Forum threads. I am posting here because I've been periodically updating on my stop smoking here in General as well as in the Health Support threads. If this post is moved to one of those threads, that's okay, but I post here because it is a more active thread and more people see it initially.
Smoking....now three weeks free, you would think I'd be over the hump, wouldn't you!? In the past, when this condition of shortness of breath and anxiety appeared in my attempts to stop smoking, this is when I weakened and went to buy a pack of cigarettes, though in the past this was after only a few days of trying to quit. I am determined not to do this again, and undo all the effort of the past three weeks!
I just got back for the university where we had grad critiques on our art work. I enjoyed seeing all the familiar faces and interacting with the students, but left in this condition! I also had a bout of this today at my work at school! I'm thinking maybe I should see my doctor for anxiety medication, at least temporarily, till I get thru the next month or so....OR, am I just wanting another CRUTCH, and being a wimp!???

go for the anxiety meds hon. stopping smoking is very difficult to do on our own. maybe this will help get over the mental part of the process. (((hugs))) you have done too well to go back now!

awww seeker...I know how hard this is. Tell me, have you replaced smoking with something positive and healthy? If not, maybe doing so will help with the anxiety....going for a brisk walk, taking a long hot luxurious bath....cooking a favorite healthy dish...doing something you enjoy and is healthful to replace those anxious times might be just the ticket!

Anxious, short of breath, sleepless...

Thanks, Sabby and Bebop!
I know you are both right.
I bought an expensive exercise bike, as well as intending to go for walks, so I must try to do this. Maybe my doctor can help also if this anxiety continues.

You go girl!! You can do this I know you can! You have the right attitude and the strength to get through this. A little help from the doc is not a bad thing either.
