I just sent my resume and cover letter to ten different places. I also filled out an online application for an agency that helps to connect people with psychology degrees with jobs. All of the jobs I applied to are for outpatient therapist positions with one exception of inpatient. I will be finishing my internship and classes next month and starting doctoral school in August. I can't stand current my job. I work there part-time since I have my internship. I cannot wait to start going on interviews and finally get a job as a therapist. What if no one calls me?????

Good luck with the job hunt. It can be so frustrating at times. I've been looking since last September and have had some interviews but it's a slow and painful process. Remember that you have a lot to offer and try to keep your spirits up.

If no one calls you, you send out your resume to ten more places. You have gotten through school so far, including your recent stunning doctoral spot, you have the part-time job you hate, etc. That you want something doesn't make it any more difficult to get, just makes it feel more dangerous because you want it I think.

I just got my first call back. It is for a part-time position (I was looking more for full-time, but whatever at this point). It is for an out-patient therapist-- Of course I missed the call so I just left the guy a message. Hopefully I'll hear from him soon.

Oh God, I just got an interview at the place I was talking about in my previous post. The guy was totally intimidating over the phone with a really deep voice. I was like, "Um, I still carry a full-time work schedule, so I was wondering if we could discuss available times." And he was like, "WHAT DO YOU MEAN?" Geez. The phone call was so short-- scheduled the interview and said, "See you then." That's it. No instructions on what to do, questions about whether or not I know how to get there. LOL this should be interesting. It's next Friday.

I was searching for work earlier in teh year, but with lack of response, I gave up until I finish my degree in April. I still find it troubling that with all of my training, education, and indirect experience, they still want somebody with direct job experience for entry-level jobs. Even with professionally paid for resumes and cover letters, I am still not getting calls...I might have to move my sons again at the end of their school year.

pinksoil - I think phone interviews are the worst. It's really hard becasue you can't read the other person's body language. I hate them. But they obviously liked your resume enough to bring you in for an interview that's a good sign.

Keep us posted.
