Hi everyone! Who Was Experienced in Dealing With Disability Info Please?

I haven't posted for awhile (lots of reasons including major illness in my family) so I feel a bit strange posting to ask for help.

I was just approved for disability and am overwhelmed by all the info (and some contradictory info I got by the caseworker over the phone vs. the info I just received in the mail) and new decisions to be made re: Medicare when I had just gotten used to how Medicaid works.

I thought I remembered reading someone posting in WiseWoman's recent thread that they could help with questions, but now I can't find who that is. Who Was Experienced in Dealing With Disability Info Please?

If that person reads this and can IM me I would be most grateful.

And thank you, PC community, for still being here even though I've been AWOL.

Medicaid will now only pick up AFTER medicare limits have be reached. That you are already approved for medicaid is a boost for you, and will come in handy in the future of your medical care, imo.

I've helped my mom with both. (My own disability does not come through the government system though.)

Yes, I did find the person who I sought and they are helping me understand the government techno-speak. Who Was Experienced in Dealing With Disability Info Please?

Great advice about not confusing the caseworkers when I speak to them. I generally get my thoughts in order and then type it all out to take with me to any kind of meeting, including meeting with my doctors, etc. Also helps me from forgetting something I wanted to ask.

Gratz on your approval bebop Who Was Experienced in Dealing With Disability Info Please? I think we should create a T-shirt that says "I survived the disability paperwork jungle" or something like that. Who Was Experienced in Dealing With Disability Info Please?
