I found one darn song by the McGarrigle Sisters, an alleged duet with Emmylou Harris called "Talk to me of Mendocino" or something like that.

The Jennifer Warnes, I had much better luck with. Found some of those songs What is playing on your stereo RIGHT now>>>>

Jeremiah was a bullfrog,
he was good friend of mine.
I never understood a
single word he said
but I helped him drink his whine.
He always had some mighty fine wine.

Sing it: Joy to the world...
all the boys and girls now,
joy to the fishies in the deep blue sea
and joy to you and me.

And if i were the king of the world,
I tell you what I'd do.
I'd throw away the cars and
the bars in the world and
I'd make sweet love to you.

Sing it now : Joy the the world,
all the boys and girls,
joy to the fishies in the deep blue sea,
joy to you and me.

Yah know I love the ladies,
love to have my fun ...
Im a hard knock flyer and a rain bow rider ...
a strait shootin' son of a gun,
I said a strait shootin' sun of a gun.

Joy to the world, all the boys and girls,
joy to all the fishies in the deep blue sea,
joy to you and me.

Catch The Wind

In the chilly hours and minutes,
Of uncertainty, I want to be,
In the warm hold of your loving mind.

To feel you all around me,
And to take your hand, along the sand,
Ah, but I may as well try and catch the wind.

When sundown pales the sky,
I wanna hide a while, behind your smile,
And everywhere I'd look, your eyes I'd find.

For me to love you now,
Would be the sweetest thing, 'twould make me sing,
Ah, but I may as well, try and catch the wind.

When rain has hung the leaves with tears,
I want you near, to kill my fears
To help me to leave all my blues behind.

For standin' in your heart,
Is where I want to be, and I long to be,
Ah, but I may as well, try and catch the wind.

Mellow Yellow
Donovan

I'm just mad about Saffron
Saffron's mad about me
I'm just mad about Saffron
She's just mad about me

{Refrain}
They call me mellow yellow
(Quite rightly)
They call me mellow yellow
(Quite rightly)
They call me mellow yellow

I'm just mad about Fourteen
Fourteen's mad about me
I'm just mad about Fourteen
She's just mad about me

{Refrain}

Born high forever to fly
Wind velocity nil
Wanna high forever to fly
If you want your cup our fill

{Refrain}

(So mellow, he's so yellow)

Electrical banana
Is gonna be a sudden craze
Electrical banana
Is bound to be the very next phase

They call it mellow yellow
(Quite rightly)
They call me mellow yellow
(Quite rightly)
They call me mellow yellow

Saffron -- yeah
I'm just mad about her
I'm just mad about Saffron
She's just mad about me

{Refrain}

(Oh so yellow, oh so mellow)

Ah! They just don't write or sing them like they used to! What is playing on your stereo RIGHT now>>>>

HURDY GURDY MAN
Donovan

Thrown like a star in my vast sleep
I open my eyes to take a peep
To find that I was by the sea
Gazing with tranquillity.
'Twas then when the Hurdy Gurdy Man
Came singing songs of love,
Then when the Hurdy Gurdy Man
Came singing songs of love.
Hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, gurdy he sang.
Hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, gurdy he sang.
Hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, gurdy he sang.
Histories of ages past
Unenlightened shadows cast
Down through all eternity
The crying of humanity.
'Tis then when the Hurdy Gurdy Man
Comes singing songs of love,
Then when the Hurdy Gurdy Man
Comes singing songs of love.
Hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, gurdy he sang.
Hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy.
Hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, gurdy he sang.
Hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, gurdy he sang.
Here comes the roly poly man and he's singing songs of love,
Roly poly, roly poly, roly poly, poly he sang.
Hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, gurdy he sang,
Hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, gurdy he sang

Some interesting facts: A hurdy-gurdy is an odd instrument resembling an organ grinder. It is played by turning a crank and pressing buttons to play notes.

Donovan claims this came to him in a dream where he had a vision of a hurdy-gurdy man rising above the waves on a Hawaiian beach. He was experimenting with Eastern religion, as well as a variety of drugs at the time.

This features a tambura, an Indian instrument used to get the droning sound. Donovan was interested in Indian music. He went with The Beatles on their transcendental meditation retreat in 1968.

Donovan's friend George Harrison wrote another verse for this, but it was never recorded.

Nope! I was never into drugs. What is playing on your stereo RIGHT now>>>>

Hi all,

This is a great thread. I so wish my old turn table fit in my too tiny 6' by 9' (ID) cabin and my speakers weren't blown, I miss music I also wish I had audio on my own computer and knew how to use .mov files and whatever is needed to really use the net, and check out this play list.

I've got a faded Gratful Dead concert tape in my 'crummy speaker' player. There is so much great music in the world isn't there?! Mostly I've got old '60s and '70s blues, folk, jazz, and rock tunes playing vaguely in my head. I miss; Hounddog Taylor, Howlin' Wolf, CSN&Y, Country Joe and the Fish (they're signature tune's been playing LOUD), Comandeer Cody, Satana, tons of other stuff that has faded in my mind, and as I mentioned elsewhere Mimi and Richard Farina. I found some of their lyrics through www.richardandmimi.com I mostly listen to wildlife around me, you should here the carolina wrens, screech owls, and loons, at my temporary, stuck, squatter location.

Well that's it for now, may you only need to hear the tunes that fill your hearts and never forget their warmth and pizzas. tc-Down

I am listening to ACDC, my all time favorite.

"Back in Black", got to love it.

But I listen to many types of music. From hard rock to classical. We have over 1000 CD's. Takes up too much room; lolol.

Gosh dang it!!! My post went away where I had told you about the tornado watch we had this morning in "sunny" California and where there was a water spout that came ashore around 6 am and ALL THAT GOOD STUFF!!! OH! And I said how deep I had to go digging for this thread, too! ARRRRGH! DAMMIT!!!

Anyway, here's the song that's been going through my mind for the last few weeks and I'm finally playing so maybe it will go away! LOL

DON'T LET THE RAIN COME DOWN (Crooked Little Man)
The Serendipity Singers

CHORUS
(Ah, ah) Oh, no, don't let the rain come down
(Ah, ah) Oh, no, don't let the rain come down
(Ah, ah) Oh, no, don't let the rain come down
My roof's got a hole in it and I might drown
Oh, yes, my roof's got a hole in it and I might drown
There was a crooked man and he had a crooked smile
Had a crooked sixpence and he walked a crooked mile
Had a crooked cat and he had a crooked mouse
They all lived together in a crooked little house

CHORUS

Well, this crooked little man and his crooked little smile
Took his crooked sixpence and he walked a crooked mile
Bought some crooked nails and a crooked little bat
Tried to fix his roof with a rat-tat-tat-tat-tat <five knocks on wooden surface>

CHORUS

Now this crooked little man and his crooked cat and mouse
They all live together in a crooked little house
Has a crooked door with a crooked little latch
Has a crooked roof with a crooked little patch
CHORUS <softly>

CHORUS <loudly>

(Ah, ah) Oh, no, don't let the rain come down
(Ah, ah) Oh, no, don't let the rain come down
(Ah, ah) Oh, no, don't let the rain come down
My roof's got a hole in it (my roof's got a hole in it)
My roof's got a hole in it and I might drown
