They found that differences in a mother's care, such as licking and grooming, can change the development of rat pups' hormonal and behavioral response to stress, resulting in lifelong changes in the pups' response to stress and how they process information about stressors.

as in a parental nurturing I can see that as well. I think for me my lack of motherly love has caused me many issues in my lifetime.

The article is fascinating though; they've found how environment influences (not changes, just influences) your genes, turns things on or off, etc. and if they can understand that better they can make antidepressants work faster/better they were saying.

Everything affects everything.

Your mom didn't create herself, either, but was a product of prior causes, genetic, cultural, whatever. Trying to pin liability on one single cause is sloppy, imo.*

this has triggering qualities for me, in past family members always said "your just like your mother" in reality I'd rather be dead than like her, thank God my Grandmother raised me

I cant say I agree with this as my mum adored me and showed me heaps of love and gave me all the time I needed.

Still does even though we argue lol.
