Me too.

When sweetlover said she noticed my profile and was interested, I got suspicious, because there is very little in my profile!

When they said they noticed my profile, I wondered if they meant the balding big head, the gut on my belly, or the short stature of my height...

Warning?

I still wish I had that baseball bat.

Although Psych Central has been spared from most PM spam, this is an example of one. If ever in doubt, do one or more of the following --

1. PM an admin (including me)
2. Google for a unique word or phrase in the PM (flora Cota, for example)
3. Simply delete it without replying

We've put an additional block in new members from sending PMs until they've posted a certain minimum number of times, to try and prevent future occurrences of this sort of thing.

I haven't been here for a little while and when I logged on earlier I had a PM but when I went to look at it, it 'disappeared'. Because the "sweetlover' account has been deleted do the PMs get deleted too, or is there something strange going on in my inbox?!?!

Usually the PM itself isn't deleted, but still there for you to read, the member's name is deleted. I would just delete the PM too, if I were you. TC!

>what if?

Here's one way to take the risk, if you want to let someone who emails you out of the blue like that contact you. (Personally, I don't doubt that person here was a spammer, I see the same thing happen all the time online; you can also Google the email/contact info given to see what turns up.)

But -- to contact someone without revealing your email -- this can be useful generally:

You can protect yourself by getting a unique forwarding email address at
http://www.sneakemail.com/

Give that only to one person/company/website. They send their email to it, it goes via Sneakemail who routes it to you without disclosing your real info.

If you don't like what you get, go back to Sneakemail and delete that address and anything sent to it thereafter is discarded.

Read the info at Sneakemail, they explain it well. I used the basic free service for years. Now I happily pay for the extra features of their advanced account.
