OK, I have an issue. My husband left an ink pen in his work shorts and I washed and dryed it. Not a problem with his work clothes because his uninform is black.
My problem is I have ink all over the inside of my dryer. It's blue smugs everywhere. I tried using Mr. Clean to wipe it out. But that didn't do a thing. Thinking about bleaching it. Just unsure, because I don't want to bleach anything on accident. So if anyone can think of how to get ink out of white plastic dryer drum let me know. Thanks,Lisa

I may be called "inky" but I'm afraid that I can't remember. I heard at some point long ago. Hopefully someone else will have the tip you are looking for. Sorry I can't tell ya.

I have never tried it in a dryer but I use this stuff called mean green degreaser when I have to remove ink from my walls. It works pretty good and I can get it at the dollar store so its pretty cheap. Good luck ink is so hard to get off anything.

I would not put any chemicals in a dryer! not bleach and not mean green stuff! could be flammable. not sure how far you can get in there to wipe it out. thinking here....

All I have is change to my name. So I'll see how many quarters I have to get some. I'm worried that when I use the dryer again the ink will warm up and rub off on my other clothes.

Here are few things that have worked for me on clothing with ink spots...... maybe it will work on the dryer.
Rubbing Alcohol Bleach Wipes Hair Spray Someone else recommended - Carburetor Cleaner - then wipe with Lysol Wipes. |

rubbing alcohol or hairspray, just make sure you give it time to fully evaporate before running the dryer again. also, if it doesn't all come off run some old rags or blue jeans or something that the ink wont hurt through a couple times to see if it is going to come off on the clothes

This happened to me also...I used a Mr Clean Magic Eraser. It took a little elbow grease but, at least I didn't have to use harsh chemicals or anything that was flammable or could ruin other clothing

I found this stuff at Lowe's called Krud Kutter.....it is amazing....it melts durt & grime off of everything I spray it on.....it was mostly for sticky things, but I sprayed in on the walls in my kitchen (the previous owners were smokers)......the yellow crud just runs down the wall as I am trying to wipe it up.......it leaves everything it touches clean without eating it up & leaving a hole.
I have also used it on the wood cabinets in the kitchen...the greasey fingers & that cleanes that up completely right before your eyes. I have also used it on the doggie oops spots on my carpets.....it works wonders on that also. I have actually never found anything quite this good anywhere....I am sure I will find something it doesn't work on....but so far so good.

i hadn't thought of krud kutter. they have it at home depot as well, usually hidden by the paint supplies. it cleans rust stains off shower walls when you have well water and will get old set in baby formula out of tiny little shirts. i used it when i cleaned professionally years ago.

I use Mean Green on EVERYTHING! I swear by the stuff actually. I'll have to find that Krud Kutter....I could certainly use it here (we have hard well water as well).
Whatever you use...don't spray it directly on the spots. I'd spray it on a wet rag and after that I'd wipe it up with just a wet paper towel dampened with plain water to wipe away the residue to prevent a fire or something. Best of luck to you! |

I know that it's flamable, but I used nail polish remover and cleaned the tub out very well before using the dryer again.
