So when you apply for disability they want your job history for the last 15 years it says on their website. Umm how do i go about finding that out? I have no idea what dates i worked when and how long or for a lot of em even the name of the company. The last 15 years for me goes back to 18 and i must have had 20 jobs where i stayed less than a week Disability/Work History How would a person go about finding this information?

Wow, that's a good question! Why 15 years? The disability pay regarding how much you've paid in is in the government records...and they only look back 10 years for a certain number of credits...unless they changed that? If they changed that I need to know... would be good because I missed disability pay from govt. by one point/one quarter.

Good wishes!

Well on this page here http://www.socialsecurity.gov/disabi..._Worksheet.pdf the last part asks for the jobs youve had in the last 15 years before you became disabled. And on this web page http://www.socialsecurity.gov/disabi..._Checklist.pdf it says pretty much the same thing. Its the last thing on the bottom of each page.

Wow, I wouldn't know what to do either. A couple of the places I've worked in the last 15 years are out of business now.

It stinks that the govt. makes you jump through so many hoops for YOUR money. Disability/Work History Good luck and let us know how you do -- I'm contemplating applying myself.

I tried a google search and came up with a IRS form at least. But i think even then they want $43.75 which doesnt seem like that much but im scratching for gas money to get to therapy. I suppose it could be a lot worse though. If anyone needs the form or has a better answer i found the address for the form at http://www.ssa.gov/online/ssa-7050.pdf

The government has the information. Perhaps the only reason for the list from you is to see if any of your employers cheated the system and didn't pay in? Just give them the ones you remember, for land's sake. Forget the others (well, you already have! Disability/Work History)

When I applied I had to go all the way back to my first job. I had a hard time remembering, when I asked somebody at social security they told me to estimate the dates and how much I made. Good luck finding your information, I hope it works out for you. Disability/Work History

Just a thought, do you have any old job aps, they might have your history on them. Or, the last people you worked for might have a copy. Disability/Work History

You can request your work history for jobs that paid into Social Security for you. This should include your benefits at time of retirement as well as how much you would receive for disability. Check this page http://www.ssa.gov/mystatement/

p.s. It shouldn't cost anything.

if you can contact any attorney, it you don't get your money, they don't get paid. i had to work w/one for 2 years before i received my dis. the soc sec pays on your highest paid job and you will also get back pay from the time you applied. i received $40,000. i called the attorney three times to make sure i wasn't dreaming. the attorney got a little ove $5000. it is worth it.

most attorney's wont talk to you til they deny you one time. I was lucky this time when I applied I was approved in 4 months. they only went back 1 yr though Disability/Work History sucks because I was disabled a yr before they said I was.

hmmm bebop, they have to go back to when you first applied for it, if you have dated proof/application. (Did we already discuss this? I forget. )

what they are actually looking for here is what kind of work you have done, the part that really sucks is that as you get older the less likely they are to tell you you can be retrained. when you are young it is very hard to get disability because they figure they can send you to school to learn something new. of course they told me there is no reason i can't run an office, i am AGORAPHOBIC. been housebound for 2 years now. i am appealing to the administrative law judge.
