Personally, I thought it was my depression... that I posted several times and yet... I didn't???? But then two other members -on their own without my having said anything about losing the posts - said they thought they saw a post of such and such of mine and now it's gone...

And I have read of TWO OTHER members mention they posted or thought they posted and ... it's not here...

I know that when we are depressed or in some crisis of life, we don't think clearly. But this seems to be a rather unusual happening, this dropping of posts. I know mine weren't offensive to the membership at large. I also know that in the past when a post was deleted by a mod, it was noted.

Do we have a new mod that is after some members? (paranoia strikes deep...) or doesn't know to post that they deleted a post? Or is the new server getting random fits of memory loss? Inquiring minds want to know!

Sky, maybe you should let Doc John know down in his "bug" section?

My memory has been so bad lately that I couldn't tell you if I'm missing posts or not. "MISSING" posts

Sky,
You are def not the only one who has been having this problem. I have seen lots of posts from lots of people who have been missing um their posts.... Wow that was a bad sentence.
Anywho hopefully Doc John can get to the bottom of this mystery.

Ok folks I've figured out PART of what is happening:

the MAIN INDEX and FORUM tabs are not sending us to the most recent ... ??? day?

I sent DocJohn um now 3 PMs... about what is happening just tonight and what I realize. When I was sent back to the forum after the PM the posts were there! If I use the Main Index tab or another to change forums, the posts are NOT listed.

I could see the latest post on the right hand side SOMETIMES but only if I clicked on it, would I get it (Like HERE RIGHT NOW)
if I clicked on the forum name, I did not have the latest posts.

I haven't checked if I am only having trouble finding my OWN posts, but will try to watch and see if other's new posts are also not being listed....

Once I'm into a forum, and post, and IT returns me to the forum, it 's ok... but not to another forum or the main index. sigh.

thought I had really lost it there.

This used to happen to me on the old server, but it actually turned out to be a problem with my computer. I had some kind of adware or spyware on my computer that was messing stuff up. After I got my computer fixed, the problem with psychcentral never happened again. And I have not had any problems like that for a long time.

I don't know if that's true for you, too, but that's what it was with me.

Good luck!

Folks, this is most usually caused by a problem with your browser's cache. Microsoft Internet Explorer is notorious for this, unfortunately. The easiest way to ensure you're viewing a non-cached copy of a page is to hold down the CTRL key while clicking on your refresh/reload button. That will usually clear the cache and load in the latest version of the page. (In Firefox/Mozilla/Netscape, hold down the SHIFT key instead for the same result.)

While I don't recall viewing the photo gallery the other times this happened... it did occur that way this time... my settings are to clear when leaving a site, and absolutely when closing the browser... BUT after viewing the large files in the gallery, could this be what did it? [Pardon me for my ignorance,,, but I'm learning "MISSING" posts]

If you're using IE (microsoft), then you have to manually empty your cache once in a while. Don't ask me why, by the Gatesian philosophy is to leave all kinds of temporary files cluttering up the hard-drive, and messing with allocation tables.

Pull down the Tools menu, and select Internet Options. On the General tab, under Temporary Internet Files, select Delete Files. A smaller window will open, and tick the box to delete local files. Select OK. Be prepared to wait a while if you haven't done this before. Over half of the entire file content on my hard drive was cleared off, the first time I did that. 17 GB of temporary madness. My caches worked fine after that.
