I am trying to break the variety of issues that I have down into pieces.
This is about the only thing that I know which works. Since my divorce in 2k1, I have experienced extreme financial instability along with a great deal of alienation. The "Child Support" system, (which I vehemently oppose) has often put me exactly where it wants me to be financially...in the gutter. Combine this with the level of alienation that I have consequently experienced from every biological member of my family since that divorce, and you will begin to understand what has happened to me. In 2003, I remarried and in 2004 and 2007, I had 2 more children. The factory is now shut. My income is now pretty good, but will always be hindered by "Child Support". In the past few years, we have moved 7 times (including 2 international moves) not only to put food on our table, but to pay this bureaucratic nightmare. What makes things tougher is that my wife is presently "unskilled labor". She left school when she was 12 to take care of her mother and father. Turns out she did the right thing at the time. Both her mother and father died a few years later. If my wife were to take a job, it would be at McDonald's (yes we have gone that route), and every penny would go to daycare. The bottom line is that we are alienated by everyone on both sides of the family, for reasons unknown to us (which would also be beyond the scope of this post). I work in a major US city, but live where we can afford. This happens to make my commute 3 hrs each way to work (also beyond the scope of this post). When one of the kids get sick, it often requires me to leave work and come home to take care of them. (Wife learned how to drive at the age of 25) because she is from Scotland and lived in a city where driving was not required. The back country roads where I live are very dangerous to say the least. I don't feel right about her driving my infant and toddler out there. When I come home to address my children's sickness, I don't get paid because I am an independent contractor. This also causes me to look unreliable at work. I have never had good luck switching jobs etc., so I have learned to stick with the same job. Changing jobs also causes horrific problems with the child support system so I don't just get up and go. (The variety of problems that are caused by switching jobs with respect to child support are beyond the scope of this post and would probably cause a politcal argument which I don't want to get into). It is all a big catch 22, but I am sick of begging so called "family members" to move in with them when things go wrong. Thank you for your time!
