Well, today was my first day at work since Nov. 17. I had a little hospital stint and a 2-week pdoc-required "vacation" before going back. I obsessed about it all weekend. And I got a little panicky when walking from my car to the building entrance.

But, I lived to tell the tale! It wasn't even all that bad. I got a couple hugs, and lots of well wishes, and my boss -- the cause of all the commotion in the first place -- actually bought me a welcome-back gift. I collect bears (DUH, couldn't tell from my nick, couldja? yippee! I survived!), and she bought me this adorable bear sitting in a teacup. Hanging out of the cup was a thingy like you get on the end of a teabag, but it was shaped like a life preserver. On the cup it said, "Keep your chin up!" Too cute.

And, I was so absolutely SWAMPED with work that I didn't get to think about anything else. I didn't even take a lunch today. I think the first time I made it to the bathroom was 3:45! So that helped too.

I wonder if this is just a honeymoon period before everything going to hell again?

Oh well. I'm going to enjoy it while it lasts!

Candy

(((((((((((((((((((((( candybear ))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

I'm so glad it went soooooo well! What about a gift from the boss??? How great for you! I'm sure there's a little bit of the "honeymoon" thing going on, but I think it's a sure sign that you're cared about there and that hopefully things will never get to the point that they did before.

thanks for letting us know!

be safe,

kimmydawn

Candy, I prefer to think it is you catastrophicsizing and that your job will be fine. I am so glad you had a good day back. When I came back after a 2 month loa I was so scared and I KNEW my direct super was nuts and had it out for me. She has been fine. She learned a lot from me and I learned a lot from her. It is a very slow process for me to open up to her. However, I do my job well no matter how scared I was.

Hey, congratulations on a good first day! Maybe people are going to be more sensitive to your needs now, and I'm glad your boss realized that too. I hope you have a great week, it sounds like you did really well today. Sometimes just having a task to do helps keep your mind off of things. I'm glad you had a good day.
