hi--

i am new here and wondeirng if someone can please help me.
i had a hearing for ssdi and ssi (disability) and i won my case for both. i live in washington state.
the decision was found fully favorable to me.

i won this case back in june of 2004. i have been reciveing a
tiny sum of $338 that goes directly to my landlord and i see none of it. it does not cover all of my rent. every month i must scramble to find some way to pay my bills, eat etc.

i have a very difficult time holding a regular job wich is why i won my case...

however--i was lead to believe that i would be recieving more $ than the $338. that the combination of the two forms
(ssi and ssdi) would total about $838 or so per month.

i have an attorney and have been to socail security offices and called them many times.

no one seems to be able to tell me anything about when i will actually recieve any money or retroactive disabilty payments.

if anyone has been throught this process and could tell me what is happening and could offer advice to me. im all ears for listening.

also--i am an artist/photogrpaher/webdesigner if anyone is interested in my images. (i can mail you privately for the link to the images) i have them for sale to try to generate revenue for my rent.

thanks!

Have you received a letter from the SS telling what your retroactive amount is, when did you get your first check, also has your lawyer been paid. If you had received Welfare don't forget they have to take there share out did you call them to see if they got paid?
Not trying to sound negative but have you read the Community Guidelines here, you are not allowed to advertise on this forum Please read the guidelines.

Hi bluegirl, I am still waiting for my hearing, but my brother had his a couple years ago. They told him within days after the hearing what percentage they disabled him at, and how much money that would mean both retrocatively and monthly. The one who should have no trouble ferreting out this information is your lawyer. He/she undoubtedly has some idea as to just when and how much payment is expected. I mean, that's what they're best at, isn't it?

I am also in Washington state, and have waited two years now for my hearing. My brother waited half that time in Oregon. Could also be that they are so much slower at commencing their payments. The 338 sounds suspiciously like dshs payment amount. Is there anyone close to you like a family member to help you navigate toward some answers? Otherwise, starting with the lawyer is my only idea. good luck.

Welcome bluegirl! You've come to a good place in your life!

I too, think there is more information available to you somewhere! I wouldn't personally want the money to be going to your landlord for heaven's sake! I'd change that right now... besides, how would you know when the amount is increased, or if the amount he is receiving isn't the MORE you expected????

Make sure you put your requests in writing, as verbal requests are quickly forgotten. . . that's to your attorney too hehehe

Yes, this is a protective community, and while I understand your need to earn money, we just don't solicit here, ok?

Again, welcome... post often and let us know what's going on , ok?

Hi, if you worked and paid into S.S. you should be eligible for SSDI. However, SSI is incomed based and each state has it's cap. Don't know what your is but anyone there can tell you. So what I am saying is if you paid into ss enough quarters, you should be eligible for benefits. But since you are getting SSI it raises the question of SSDI or not. Is there an advocacy agency such as the office of equal opportunity near you? Make some call, write some letters and if it's not far, go to the social security office.

hi--

thanks for all the posts.

i have been to my attorneys office many times.
he has not gotten paid. he has no idea when this will
happen. when i will recieve any $ or him.
meanwhile, i am facing eviction.

part of the stipulation of my recieving any money at all
is that i have to have a payee--or the money goes to a thrid party then they pay my landlord.

court ordered and i cant do anything about it.
i get no $ from all this waiting and frustration.

its making me crazier.
