Last night in chat was tough. We all were dealing with a verbal assault and i'm not too sure we dealt with it well. After it was over, I assessed the situation and wondered if any of our site managers could offer some coping tools for handling the type of raw pain and anger we were faced with. After all, I know that we're here to support one another and I never want to feel the way that I did last night. I know that my much beloved fellow chatters feel the same...suggestions?

i'm so sorry that things got so difficult last nite in chat. i know it brought about MANY feelings and some were even triggered.
i don't think there's any way to predict something like that happening in chat. i do think that it chatters remember if someone comes in causing trouble they have a couple of options: 1) they can hit their "x" and leave. which i wouldn't want to leave if i was in chat with my friends having a good time. 2) go to another room. if the person follows, then go to a password protected room until it passes. unfortunately, chat may get that way ![]() ![]() thinking of everyone there last nite...

Just like in the forums, there is also an option to ignore someone. If everyone in the room ignore the person who's acting out, nobody would see what that person was writing and therefore there'd be nothing to react to.
I know it seems like a hassle to have to right-click on someone's name and choose "Ignore user," but that's what the feature is there for. The member who was having issues last night has been PM'ed and warned about her behavior. Thank you all for bringing it to our attention! DocJohn
