I have been trying to get out of some funds that are part of my 401K retirement package. I have been trying since AUGUST!
I understand that it's not easy to get the paperwork to someone to sign, if I'm moving around a lot. I understand that my reps had 3 hurricanes and the aftermath to deal with August and September. But 6 months!!!! I called earlier this week, left an address where the paperwork might be sent -- no response. Today I called my agent, left the usual message -- with one little addition. "I guess I have no choice but to notify the appropriate securities regulatory agency about this unresponsiveness," I closed. My agent was on the phone with minutes and an appointment has been set up for an hour and a half from now. Oh, what a little threat with federal agency force behind it can do.

Well, yes, I got the meeting -- and had to face the awful state of my financial affairs. It knocked the stuffing right out of me.

Good for you! I'm about to write my State's Attorney about the attorneys (on both sides) and their lack of consideration for my legal needs. Hope I get similar results. (PS As a disabled person, I am able to draw down any funds from anywhere AND WITHOUT THE USUAL FED INCOME TAX being withheld. I fill out the form and tell them so!)
