No more AD's. I honestly don't care if they take away my depression anymore. I cannot continue to keep gaining this weight and I cannot stay the weight I am now.
I am seeing my pdoc on Monday and will inform her that I have quit cold turkey. When I have lost the 18 kilograms I have gained in 6 months, I will consider seeing her again. It is time for me to prove that this weight gain was not my fault.

I understand your frustration with the meds, as I have gained up to 50 lbs at one point with the meds they were giving me. I think stopping the meds may not be such a good idea, though, as you are on it for a reason. Talk with your doc and see what other avenues you can take to lose the weight.
When I tried to lose the weight I started exercising, watching what I ate, and even what I drank. Start there and see what happens.

Ok, you know I'm not gunna think this is a great idea...so I won't even go there. If anything should be quit,....um...it maybe could be something else?
![]() But if you insist - PLEASE don't do it cold turkey????? That could easily send you off the deep end, and to a very bad place. You KNOW how very dangerous that can be. Please please please, re- think this decision. HUGE GIGUNDOUS HUGS , Your pal in the thick of it, Emmy ![]() |

Sabrina,
I know NOTHING about medication, but I think it may be pretty bad for you to quit cold turkey like that. I think it's best to taper down. That being said, just want to let you know that not all things require medication. I have been in therapy for 1.5 years now for Depression and have never taken a pill. I have worked hard and it has not been easy, but you can get better without medication. I know medication works for lots of people, and many people need it, but, from personal experience, it is possible to get better without them (assuming you have something like depression or anxiety). One of the reasons I chose not to go on meds was because of weight gain. And in the end, I'm glad I chose the road I did. |

I sent you an e-mail and talked to you about this in it but I'll say it again here. Cold turkey is not a good idea. Withdrawal is not a good thing. Been there, done that several times and never because I wanted to. I had no choice in my situation. Please do this with your pdoc. Also, I mentioned Wellbutrin to you. I'm taking that one and it has a side effect of loss of appetite. Seems to be affecting me that way. I have to force myself to eat even once a day. PLEASE, you don't need to do this alone. Talk to your pdoc first. I know how much the weight gain can be discouraging but there are easier and better ways than cold turkey. You really don't want to go through that sweetie. It ain't fun!!! E-mail me, talk to your pdoc!!! Take care of yourself. And also stopping cold turkey, what effect is all that going to do with your moods??? I think you're headed for a huge tailspin that you're not going to like. Please reconsider what you're doing. You know I'm here for you. E-mail me anytime. CALL YOUR PDOC!!! Luv ya!!! ![]() |
