On a prior post, somebody mentioned that some kids were spotted making out in school. Then a young person stated that this is somewhat common at her school. Well, I never saw that happen in my school and I'm glad. What if a girl is getting attention that ISN'T WANTED? Teachers MUST step in and STOP all that kind of behavior.
I don't know why this makes me SO mad, but it does - that people accept and even expect this kind of behavior in a SCHOOL is very upsetting to me. |

It wasn't allowed when I was in school nor when my two oldest were in school, either. I don't think it's appropriate in public but there's a whole new set of rules nowadays. Or maybe it's no rules at all.

I guess it depends on your definition of making out.

No, it doesn't depend. Any kissing should not be allowed.
What is school for? GETTING AN EDUCATION. - Sitting in the classroom taking notes IS appropriate behavior. |

cms, I agree when I was in school we we're there to learn, There is a time and place for everything and school is not the time or place for that behaviour

It wasn't all that long ago when I was in school (graduated in '97). In my school, about the only thing you could get away with was holding hands walking down the hall. Sure kissing and making out did happen. Most teachers would let a little peck go, but others were against it and none of them let the making out happen. I must admit that I kissed a few girls in the hallways and got busted for it a couple times. That was just my school.

As a teacher I have two thoughts.
1. For most schools, PDA is totally against the rules. 2. Teachers can't be everywhere at once. Most catch what they can. In the scheme of things...I'd rather have 2 kids make out than have a student assaulted. IMO bullying is a worse problem than kissing/making out. That being said...I don't want to watch 2 children paw each other. ![]()

seems that today's kids are in control of the home and the school. here there is so much going on in the school i wish i could home teach. a 6th grade girl got caught giving a 8th grade boy oral sex on the bus, three bus drives have quit this school year out of fear for their safety and those of the good kids on the bus because of the bullies on the bus, and there are many other stories i could tell. so far none of this has happened at the girls school, but at a nearby one. i feel it is just a matter of time before these things happen at their school, i just hope they are graduated by then.
kids don't respect adults, their peers, or themselves nowadays and it is scary. i go against the grain and raise my kids the old fashion way.
