Hi (please forgive me if this is a bit off-topic)
Nothing like this has ever happened to me before so I was caught completely off guard and am still really freaked out over it. Has what I'm about to describe ever happened to any of YOU people or someone you know?. Anyway, here it is... After going to the same clinic for 7-8 years, I received a CERTIFIED letter from them this afternoon telling me that they would be terminating service to me and that I should find another medipass/medicaid provider "without delay". In another part of the letter, it say's that "perhaps another physician will better serve your needs" and that they will be available to treat me for emergencies only for the next 30 days and that no narcotics will be prescribed for me during this period of time. I just don't believe this. This came totally out of the blue and for no apparent reason. When I called the clinic I was told that I would need to speak to the administrator (who had been out of the office for the last few days) and that yes, my care there had been terminated and they would no longer be seeing me. When I asked if I was the only one who received a letter like this, the lady there said "yes". This is so strange because nothing unusual happened the last 2-3 time I went there prior to recieving this letter. I had been friendly and polite and everyone was nice to me. I showed up for my appointment on time and everything went pretty normal. I don't gulp down narcotics or "doctor shop" either. Like I said, my visits there are usually pretty normal and uneventful. While I probably DO visit the clinic more often than most people do because of my OCD/hypochondria, I can't see this being the reason for the letter because why terminate my service there just now?. So I called the main Medicaid office and the guy there said that a doctor or clinic had the legal right to refuse service to a person without cause "just because they want to" and that I had no recourse except to locate another clinic (which I am now in the process of doing). This just feels so weird because it came out of the blue and for no reason whatsoever. My medicaid was'nt discontinued so that certainly is'nt the reason. Is this highly unusual or does this sometimes happen and why?. - Thank's again! |

It's just a regular "family practice" type clinic where lots of people go for a variety of needs. I knew all the doctors by name. Heck, I practically felt like I worked there and then...BAM!!!...I get this letter.
I'm just dumbfounded. |

How often within a month did you go in? Was there a co-pay involved? Maybe you could go in and speak to someone you are comfortable with and see if you could smooth things over in person. Was there a dr that you saw more frequently than another.....mybe they could help you.... By the way, I think it is really rude to do this by certified letter.....or at all!

i'm so sorry that this happened. what kind of clinic is it? if you receive narcotics, it is a pain clinic? it sounds like the dr has become uncomfortable with treating you and/or something has been reported to the dr that would be against policy. has anything happened at all out of the ordinary? have you gone to different pharmacies? have you asked for additional meds frequently? is there something you pharmacist or a concerned family member or friend may have reported to them? i really don't know why this happened. however, i'm very sorry that it did ![]() keep me posted, k? kd

I have heard of this as I do work in the medical field. I do think that it's a little out of the ordinary. I can tell you from personal experience, when I took my 8 month old son to a new pediatrician, there was an incident where the nurse left my "8" month old son alone on the counter and he fell backwards and hit his head on the faucet in the sink. Had I not been there to catch him, he would have fallen off the counter that was at least 4 feet high. I started yelling at the nurse and told her that this was unacceptable as no one should leave a baby unattended on a counter, let alone a trained profession. Needless to say, a few days after that appointment I received a certified letter stating that they would no longer accept my son as a patient due to the above described incident. I made it apparently clear that I would never bring my son there for treatment as I feel the staff was neglectful and undertrained. I did know the reason for the DR to send me this letter. I'm not sure what to tell you, other then i would leave an urgent message with the administrator to contact you back ASAP for answers. I hope all goes well for you. Please keep us posted. |

The only thing even slightly unusual that I can think of was when I had an ultrasound about a week and a half ago by some woman there who seemed more like a prison guard (and even looked like one!) than a technician. She barked orders and spent much of the time making a HUGE deal out of making sure my penis was covered so she would'nt be able to see it (I had a routine testicular ultrasound). She kept making such a big deal about making sure my penis was covered (even though it was!) that I almost felt like that's the only reason I was there.
She got mad and impatient with me at one point because she had my "parts" in all kinds of unusual positions and at one point while she was straightening the towl out covering my "part", it popped out and she exploded "I told you I did'nt want to see your penis!!!". She made such a big issue out of this that finally I just told her "I don't CARE about my penis...I'm here for an ultrasound". She acted really nasty and weird and had my testicles all tied up with a towl and everything. I've had lots of these ultrasounds and I can't ever remember anything like this. In fact, when I told my freind about her and showed him the certified letter he even suggested that maybe the whole things was some sort of setup and that she was merely a "plant". Other than that, yes, I am sort of a "household name" there in a manner of speaking because sometimes (but not usually) I show up there 2-3 days in a row. Once I showed up 6 days in a row but these are extremes. I normally might go there once a month or maybe even two. I also ask for a lot of different tests at times and sometimes I get the impression the docs there are just tired of seeing me. I'm probably making myself sound like a horrible patient but please understand that 90% of the time, my visits are nothing out of the ordinary. |

Maybe the woman that did the ultrasound reported that you kept exposing yourself even though you didn't. It seems she clearly was 'upset' during the ultrasound. Or maybe it was the frequency of your visits and all the tests that you requested. Or maybe it was a combination of them both or maybe neither one. Sorry, I guess I'm not much help. I think that if they had a problem with you, it would of been common courtesy to talk with you first. I'm sorry this has happened to you. (((((((((((GreyGoose))))))))))
