My dog ate a muffin paper that was accidently left on the coffee table. Do you think this will just be digested and come out the other end. She has a bad habit of getting things she not supposed to. Since I'm a responsible pet scooper, I have found beads, small elastics etc in her poop LOL. I hope that this will just pass through. What do you think????

LOL!!! MY dog has done the same thing!!

Yes...it should pass later on today or tomorrow sometime...

Just keep an eye on her bowel routine and if you notice her getting constipated over the next day or two, I would call the vet.

But since it's just paper, even if it had foil on it, it should go right through....

Silly Puppy....!

Take care!!

If the muffin paper was actually paper it will probably just be more fiber but if it was the metal kind it could damage her intestines.

Thanks Yoda for the concern - it was a paper muffin not foil. I'll watch her tomorrow if her bowel movement are normal. Thanks again.

Thanks to all who have answered my post so far. I will keep a close eye on her for the next few days. It's like havinga1 yr old around the house. She's 1 and 4 months old and I hope she eventually grows out of the habit of eating things. Thanks again!!

I'm sure she'll be ok. I had a dog that managed to open a bag of those hershey kisses with almonds in them. She didn't mind eating the foil around the chocolates, but I found a pile of almonds. Her poo was sparkly for days.

Thanks AAAAA for the post - sparkly pooh - that's funny. I'm surprised that your dog didn't get ill from the chocolate, since chocolate is toxic to dogs. I was also surprised to learn that raisins, grapes and macadamia nuts are also toxic. When I was growing up we had a cat who ate a long piece of tinsel(that silver foil string people used to put on Xmas trees long ago). Well a couple days later she was poohing and the pooh was attached to the foil that was still in her butt. So there she is, trying run away from it, as it dangled behind her LOL. We finally had to corner her and pull the remainder from her, as she protested.

I've heard that chocolate was supposed to be toxic to dogs, but all my life our dogs have eaten chocolate with no ill effects. That particular dog was infamous for stealing food. My twins grew up saying "watch my plate" if they had to leave the table for something while eating. She even learned how to open the fridge. The only thing she absolutely would not eat no matter what was cold cuts. Wouldn't touch them. If she stole a sandwich she'd eat the bread, cheese, veggies everything but the cold cuts.

lol, does this happen? my dog is 2 and i've had him for a year. he'll chew or eat anything if i leave it lying around. the funniest one is my sis's dog. as we put a thanksgiving turkey in the fridge after dinner my sis turned for a moment and the dog went and grabbed the bottom part of the turkey that hangs down and ran off and just gobbled it up. we still laugh about the dog eating the turkey butt!

I just wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone who responded to this thread. It's been 4 days and her bowel movements have been normal - so I think she just digested it and it came out. We had a super close call yesterday. My husband accidently dropped a couple high blood pressure medication. She instantly grabbed it and ran to the living room where I was. I didn't know yet that he dropped it, but I saw her spit something out, then pick it up again. I immediately ordered her to drop it (we've been working om that command) and THANK GOD she did drop it. I think she would have died if she swallowed that. I was so upset that he dropped it and that she picked it up.
My dog trainer said it's important to train your dog to never pick up things (food) from the ground - now I know why she said that! I'm going to start today, putting various food and problematic objects on the ground and practice the 'leave it' command. Thanks again everyone. Feel free to keep this thread open for your own stories.

I'm really late and I missed this one. But I'm glad it passed.
It was only paper and that was a good thing.
My dog ate a plastic butter condiment container.
Different story all together . He puked it up two days later
on my bed. Could have been much worse if it got stuck.
Good news Lynn

Glad to hear your dog is ok We took my golden lab to dog training class a couple years ago, where they taught us that "leave it" command. Well, we didn't reinforce the training that well after the class ended, but to this day he still remembers that command Good luck training your dog

Thanks Babysteps for your reply. That some story about your dog - too bad he puked on your bed though. Too bad dogs aren't more finicky like cats LOL. When I was still living at home we had this Doberman and she was unhappy being left alone so when we came home she tore apart a wicker basket with silk flowers - there wasn't much left on the floor Then we discovered that she also dug a huge hole in my brothers bed and the springs were actually poking through.
This same dog ate cat pooh FROM the litter box and then she threw it up and yours truly had to clean it up - talk an insult to injury LOL.
