Provide your own response here. I want to see what other people can always count on their pet for.

I'll start.

I can always count on my dog to provide some semblance of structure to my day. Like all dogs with a home, she depends on me for feeding (2 x's daily), a walk (2 X's daily), and I must sweep or vacuum the floor in order to keep the place clean. On days where I feel adrift and not really motivated this is actually a big help.

Next person.....
Thanks for this!

I can always count of my dog:

- to be thrilled to see me, even if I'm gone to take out the garbage.
- cheers me up when I'm having a bad day.
- loves me even when she gets in trouble because I use positive discipline.
- I agree she encourages me to keep a routine.
- to be a loyal companion.

I can always count on my kitten to:
- Sit on my keyboard or trackpad when I'm trying to work or just sit on my knee, lie his head on my arm and get annoyed when I move it because I'm typing!
- Miaow loudly when I have to make work calls. (I work from home.)
- Shove me off my pillow in the middle of the night.
- Sit on my chest and purr when I'm feeling sad.

I can always count on my bird to:
- Beg for scritches and then turn his head to bite me (not too hard).
- Screech his nutty head off at the bird in the mirror.
- Love me (for all the treats I give him).
- Make me feel wanted (because he hates it when I leave the room, except when it's bedtime).

I count on Amy to give me absolute unconditional love and support. She is my constant companion and is always with me. I would be lost without her. She is my therapy dog.

The "adults" as we call the big dogs are precious to me too. They are always delighted to see me and always cheer me up.

I can always count on my goats and dog to give unconditional love. I have 22 goats: one breedin billy, 11 mommas, and ten kids. Tradewind is my billy. He's as big as a Shetland pony, if not bigger. He is gentle and likes to rub up against me and walk in a circle as if givin me a big hug.

Tank is my dog. He is a great perinese. He stays in the pen with the mommas to protect them. There is a stump in the pen I like to sit on. When I am havin a hard time, especially if tears are involved, I will go sit on the stump and one by one they will come up to me. Tank is always the first to come to me. I love dog kisses, but with as much slober as he has, I'm kind of grateful he just nuzzles me instead of lickin my face. Then comes Irish with her kisses, followed by Cinnamon. After those two come over, it's like a competition on who can get the most attention. Clover may come over, if she feels like it. Last time, she lied half on/half off my lap. She is not the lightest doe, so I was grateful for her consideration. The other does names are: Rahab, Hannah, Spice, Caraway, Rye, Snowball, Candice, and Jewels.

If I am really sad and need to laugh a lot, I go to the kids pen. They jump, run, and dance all over the place. When I go in there before I even get to the stump, I am being swarmed by babies. I love to get on my hands and knees and play with them. Each of them want all my attention. If Petunia does not have all my attention, she will jump up on my shoulders and up to the top of my head. Most of the babies are twins. Lily Anne, Petunia, Mormon, and Sugar are only kids from their moms. The twins are: Salt and Pepper, Dakota and Jazmyne, and Frosty and Rosie. I tell my grandparents all the time they better get used to havin kids (baby goats) for great grandkids. I love my babies!!

So, I can always count on my goats and dog for lots of love, laughs, smiles, and snuggles.

i can always count on my gerbils to poop on me !

i can always count on my gerbils to tell me they want food!

I can alway count on Ben Gerbil being curled up on my pillow if he escapes his cage..how he gets off the table, up 15 steep stairs and up onto my bed i will never know, but he does it every time!

i can always count on my gerbils being admired by strangers when i take them out (usually i link taking them to the vets with a meeting i have in the same town, they always sit quietly during the meeting which suprises everyone... they are honoury members of one group I attend and if i do not take them people ask where they are!!!)

One note about gerbils escaping their cage. Make sure you don't have any mousetraps (or electrical wires, for that matter) set up where he might come in contact. My [bleep]ing brother (who is no longer with us) set up a mousetrap in our house. I had a hamster and he escaped without my seeing. I was in the kitchen about to eat breakfast when something caught my eye. My hamster, dead, caught in the trap. I never forgave my brother for that.

I can count on my whole pet family joining me in the bathroom Pikku! It's like they consider me a captive forced to pay attention to them. I really love it - NOT! - when the cats figure they need to go potty at the same time as me!

I can always count on my cat to jump for joy when I open the door, then practially pass out when I pick him up (he's half ragdoll).

Then I can count on him to go from purring to being "bitey bitey" in a flash after about 5 minutes of lovey-dovey!! (means he huuungwy!!)

Back to lovey-dovey as the food is being poured...

I can always count on my cat to follow me into the bathroom, so he can jump in my extra-deep tub and play "monster behind the shower curtain" lol...

I can count on him for company...for finding bugs...for chasing the garbage truck from window to window...for bringing me toys if he wants something (not always easy to figure that one out).

I can count on him to...simply..love me, without question. By the way, he picked me, not the other way around (guess he smelled bacon that night, haha!)

you can always count on a pet to never make u feel uncomfortable in the nude. or tell you a weight loss program is in line. He never fails to clean up after himself after eating a cake or steak of the counter. but best of all u can always count on your pet to wag his tail and welcome u home to his good and bad day and loves you still!!!

I counted on my dog for being there for me without criticizing or trying to change me. He was there for me when my parents were fighting. He dissapointed me just once and that was the day when he died in my arms after 15 beautiful years.

Now, three years after, I'm still feeling lost...

I can always count on my cat to:
Wake me up in the middle of the night
Yell at me to clean immediately after he uses his potty
Walk all over me in the early morning hours when he feels it is time for me to wake up
Tolerate me (even though I know he secretly loves me)
Make it really hard to change the bed linens...he loves to get under each layer and walk around and then sit down right in the middle
Mmmrrrrrraaaa as soon as I walk out the front door
Mmmmmrrrrrraaaaa when he hears me coming home and weave between my legs as I am trying to get up the stairs
Insist on playtime by bringing me his toys - twice a day

I can always count on my Dog to howl at the fire siren or the police cars. I can always count on finding him knocking over the hamper to lie on the dirty clothes when hes cold too.
