What is it, if I may know?

what ever it is, it's eating a baby leopard shark O.O

That thing looks so odd. I just ate sea bass. So how appropriate is it I seen this post?

It is a monk fish, ugly as heck but I understand they are delicious.

^Google it and learn that they have high rate of mercury. Still want to taste them though.

Oarfish lives in deep ocean. When they are found in the surface, mostly they are dead or dying. There's a myth about washed oarfish indicate the earthquake. The myth is considered to be true.

"Deep-sea fish living near the sea bottom are more sensitive to the movements of active faults than those near the surface of the sea."

The most known case is in 2011 Japan Tsunami. Around 20 oarfishes stranded some time before the earthquake.



Oarfish swims vertically, sometimes.

Despite rarely sighted, oarfish considered to be common.

So far this is the only known human interaction with healthy oarfish.
