Vet's in a number of states report cases of a new respiratory illness in dogs. Researchers in New Hampshire have identified a new bacterium.

Recommendations include making sure your pup is up to date on all respiratory vaccines and avoiding areas where there are other dogs, like dog parks. Makes me glad that Hazel and I don't go around other dogs.

What to know on the mystery dog respiratory illness: Signs, symptoms and more

I’ve been reading about that. Sounds scary. Makes me think of the movie, Planet of Apes.

I heard about it. My dogs stay on my farm....plenty of room for exercise.....but coyotes & other dogs may pass through my farm when I am not aware as it is not fenced in. Not so good with vaccines since we are rural.....but the wild raccoons do carry canine distemper so still cautious. Never vaccinated my eskies & they never got sick except with things that vaccines don't prevent

I have to take Miette (cat) in for her annual check up in a few weeks. Am going to see if Hazel needs any vaccines.
