Hello everyone,
I have been having issues with overeating and my family has told me a few times that it concerns them.
I will buy a big box pack of cupcakes and end up eating all of them in one night and even some other things.
I sometimes will find leftovers in fridge and eat huge bowl of it and a lot of chocolate candies..

just today I ate at a restaurant with my dad and right after we went and bought discounted Valentines Day Candy and I ate some on way home and finished it few hours after arriving home.
I have a big sweet tooth but I eat more than sweets, I make casseroles and eat whole thing 15 min later..

whether it is emotional or boredom I tend to eat way too much where I am extremely full . But I mainly eat at night.
My parents and I are going on a Atkins diet next week we are trying to narrow down food supply in house first... but I am wondering is this an eating disorder ?

Sorry, I don't know if it is or not, but I can relate to what you're describing.

I think it might be, but sometimes I eat because eating something tasty feels better than depression.

I have a terrible time with binge eating, especially sweets. Sometimes I can't believe the sheer amount of sugary food I can put away. I know I have to get back to a low carb eating plan as it stops the cravings, but it's so hard to get myself started. It's so frustrating as I end up hating myself for not having any self control.

I sometimes think it's like my brain needs the junk food for quick stress relief but after the binge I'm stressed about the binge..and around and around we go. Akkkkk.

Here's some questions from common screenings to think about:
- Are you in treatment for a different mental health or addiction issue?
- Do you find yourself preoccupied with food?
- Have you gone on a binge and felt out of control/like your couldn't stop?
- Have you bought food with the intent to binge on it/gone out of your way to get something to binge on?
- In recent time (since this began) has there been a significant change in your weight?
- Are you eating for reasons other than being hungry, like filling an emotional void?

If you're nodding along with these, then it's probably an eating disorder.

Yeah I didn't nod physically but I did mentally... lately my appetite has been up and down but I am having medicine issues so that could be part of it but usually If I crave something like say cupcakes I tend to buy a whole box then buy 2-4 different other snack/sweets to go with it and I almost always eat it all in one night..

Yeah thats me too. I find if i eat more protein, my craving for sweets isnt nearly as bad. I can get by with calcium chews for dessert! But the trick is to eat the protein before the sweet cravings start, otherwise its too late and im too hungry. I dont work (im old) so i set a schedule to eat breakfast by noon, lunch by 4 pm, and dinner by 8 pm. Then close the kitchen as they say.
