Ok I have this huge problem and I dont know what it is.Ok basically Ive been obsessed with this rockstar for about 2 years and it just got progressively worse and Im originally from Texas but I moved to Malibu,CA a few months ago with my mom which is kinda close to where he lives (Encino) and I got really upset because I couldnt have him so I started making all these threats on his message boards saying I was going to kill him so I had to move back to Texas and I go angry at this girl and I sent her an email saying I was going to kill him again just because I was mad at hear,but I didnt mean it and she sent it to his lawyer who sent it to the FBI who sent it to the LAPD and neither of them wanted to deal with it so they sent it to my local police in TX who came to my house with a warrant and took my computer and everything related to him and all my writings and poetry and alot of unecessary stuff and they took me to the police station and talked to his lawyer on the speakerphone and they decided to put me on probation and it turns out I have pending charges (but it hasnt gone to court yet) like stalking,terroristic threat,etc and I was sent to a mental hostpital (Brentwood in Louisiana) for 2 weeks and Im on Zoloft and was put on this anti-psychotic Geodon but got off of it because it gave me heart attacks.I do have a therapist and pyschastrist but they all say that I dont have any book-term disorder and that Im NOS (Not Otherwise Specified) So what is my problem? ISnt there a name for what I have? The hostpital said Im not crazy enough to be legal insane because Im not delusional I dont hear voices,I dont see things,I know the rockstar doesn't love me back,Im just in love with him and theres no name for it.Isn't there a "stalker syndrome" or somthing? Please help.

We have to leave the diagnosing up to the licensed doctors. I wonder why it's so important to have a label? If you know you have a problem, why not work on changing?

Hmm I'm sorry to hear that you are unhappy with the way you are. Yes, leaving threats of murder are illegal activity and that surely should cause you concern! Maybe you should repost there with an apology?
You speak of chemistry, yet you post in personality disorder forum. What else about your personality would you like to change? Has any of the therapists suggested a course of therapy to help you improve?

I posted in the personality forum because I didnt know where else to post.My therapist hasnt suggested any kind of course besides talking to her once a week but my mom is trying to treat it as an obsessive-compulsive thing but when I read about OCD people there different than me.They have problems with washing their hands to much and etc you dont hear about people with OCD who are stalkers.

OIC well, OCD can and does involve OBSESSION.. which is what it sounds like you have with that person. Have you discussed what it is about that one person that compels you so? Seeing a T once a week should help you find your way.
I've seen a T for many years and one thing he and I agree upon: labels are not generally helpful. If you can, try and not require a label. Sometimes labels negate who we really are. Welcome to psychcentral.

Yeah we've talked about it.My T thinks its a father issue because my parents are divorced.But the Zoloft really isn't working so is it biochemistry or not? Because I dont know how to treat it since no one knows what it is.

I have to agree, it does sound a little obsessive--perhaps slightly more toward the extreme. People who have "stalking" tendancies usually are prone to fixations (which can be a trademark of OCD). I'm not certain if I've heard of anything exactly like this--I would recommend picking up a copy of the DSM-IV-TR (The Dianostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders), and doing a little personal research. Maybe you can find a diagnosis that hits home? Be sure to share your thoughts with your therapist. And remember, it's the treatment that's important--not the label given to the problem.

I have great sympathy with your feelings, and maybe a slightly different take than the other posters so far. Back in my youth (a little while ago) I knew a whole load of people (mainly girls) who got desperately hooked up over pop stars and did some crazy things, including actually fighting with each other, breaking into dressing rooms, threatening overdoses, all sorts of stuff. As far as I could see, the only chemicals working with them were hormones, and I don't remember any questions about mental health. It is just possible that you are going through something like that. It's a thought. A useful question might be, do you have any other obsessional behaviour, or is your obsession just connected with this particular person? I'm just thinking that you don't need to talk yourself into a diagnosis if it's not really the fundamental problem for you. Cheers, Myzen. |

If you find something in your family, then you can research the disorder(s) and post again. I'll help you find out. Are you seeing a school therapist? Just wondering if maybe you need someone more committed to helping you. |

No, your problem is not new. You aren't alone... even though I'm not sure that is really "comforting" to you. Golly, if that's the only thing wrong with you, when you get control of it (like you seem to be doing... you don't go to the website because you are banned..etc) you'll be perfect! lol

Well threatning isn't my only problem.Im still obsessed with him and still get compelled to go to the extremes and do illegal things to get to him.(and no that doesnt include killing people.)
