Hi,
I haven't seen many posts on the subject. I've been diagnosed with schizoid personality disorder. Is the lack of posts due to our tendency to avoid other people and especially group situations? Or is it because not many here have been diagnosed with it?

Just curios,
MS

I'm not really sure...

But welcome to PC...I tend to have Borderline type symptoms that overlap with my Bipolar...

I'm not real familiar with Schizioid personality - it doesn't seem to have a lot of symptoms in common with borderline.

Maybe if you post more about your symptoms you find people who could better respond?

Perhaps I posted to the wrong forum. Is this forum primarily for borderline personality disorder?

Regards,

Personality place covers all personality disorders - so you've posted to the right place.

I will tell you that traffic to this forum is not as plentiful as some of the other forums. So it may take some time...

It tends to be rare that people with Schizoid personality disorder seek support from other people, but you are certainly welcome here. Is there anything in particular that we can help you with, or would you just like to read for now? Go ahead and speak up if you need anything.

Hi MS. You say youve been diagnosed Schizoid but do you agree? I've been dx'd Borderline and I have like every symptom so I tend to agree with my dx. Do you tend to agree with yours?

I could post the DSM criteria if that does anything for you...

Hugs and welcome...

Hi,
I have just joined this group tonight. I have been diagnosed with schiz pd. I would like to speak with someone else, never met another one who has been offiicially diagnosed.

You wrote your post some time back probably. Not sure if you'll see this.

love, riverX

hello fellow schizoids.

that's kinda humorous, considering the diagnosis, but too i reason that if i were to relate to anyone, it'd be someone who like me doesn't relate to anyone else.

for 10 years i resided in a two-bedroom trailer, surrounded by forty wooded acres, nearest neighbor half a mile away, in the middle of nowhere - heavenly isolation. sadly, air pollution forced me out of that sanctuary six months ago, and now i'm in a new place, on 1 acre, 2000 feet higher, in a doublewide with more interior space than i know what to do with, a neighbor on each side of me, and less so in the middle of nowhere. they leave me alone, though, which is good.

recently i've been taking classes at the local university (ceramics and sculpture), but only one per semester - the mandatory contact with people is tiring, but i'm driven to advance my art and to do so i require the skills i'm learning. the additional stress is worrisome, though. can i keep it together...

Hi RiverX,

I live in a rather isolated place too. Out in the middle of the country/farmland area. Nearest neighbors are a half mile each direction. I only know one neighbor, and not very well at that. I consider my living situation ideal since I'd rather not be around anyone. Plus I get to play my guitar just about as loudly as I want with my Crate half-stack amp, and no one complains.

How are your classes going? I understand the anxiety over having to be around other people in class. I took guitar lessons for about four months but the stress of being around another person and having to converse was interfering with my learning anything. I found I did better with books, DVDs and CDs. It seems, though, that ceramics and sculpture just about have to be done in a classroom type of learning environment.

After a few words, I run out of things to talk about. Which I just did.

Regards,
MS

i'm doing alright for now. the 3d art building is on the outskirts of campus, and by means of a combo lock, it's accessible 24 hours/day. i do most of my work there after midnight, so it's just me and the ghost.
