I have a co worker who likes his janitor, but was rejected. He then proceeded to deficate into the trash can and urinate in a corner of the room. I was wondering if this kind of behavior can lead to violence? Or is it anger displacement? I have a friend who has been confronting this man on other issues and I worry that he may become dangerous (postal). I welcome any opinions.

Sounds extremely hostile to me. I would be very worried about working with someone like this, and would most likely report him to HR.

I added a trigger icon to this thread. Tigerman, that behavior is way out of line. It is already an aggressive and illegal act, not to mention endangering the health of everyone in the building and others they come into contact with. I wouldn't advise confronting this man as a co-worker, but would report these actions to the appropriate supervisors. If you can prove that he is the one who did it, a police report would be appropriate.

My concern is for my boss. She is in the process of terminating unsatisfactory employees and he is one of them. I am worrying about her safety. Is there a possibliity that this type of behavior can turn violent? I know she has to watch out for her trash cans!

She probably ought to make sure security is available and on guard for him, and also make sure the police are alerted to what he has already done, as well as the potential for violence. The police are not generally known for being proactive, unfortunately. They say they are too busy. But they should take action on what he has already done.
