For the last months I have been puttung together a website for better understanding of the schizoid spectrum of disorders, (eg avoidant etc), so that people can get recovery. Not everyone can do therapy, and not al Ts understand anyway.
My motivations are deep and full of sadness and yearning.
I want recovery myself, and have found therapy impossible, I just got really ill, mentally and emotionally. But when I talk with others who identify, I feel like I'm home, all the anguish lifts, when we have a common purpose.
As well as this, 3 of the most important people in my life have died of this disorder. (2 suicide, 1 illness). Nobody knew it at the time, but now that I have understood it, I can see exactly how the underlying issues of terrible heart break and betrayal eventually took them over, and took them out.
I myself have felt myself going the same way at times. But I'm holding on for all I can. I want what I have learnt and understood to be of help to those who are seeking it. So, I have tried to explain more about the disorder but not using theoretical explanations, instead, using people's live, life experience to illustrate in a real way, rather than a professioanal and intellectual way.
there have been a few people here who I have asked if I could quote thier experiences as they shared them in thier own words, some have said yes, some have said no.

I'm writing this because there are times people say things here and what they say so illustrates something in a way I couldnt have made up myself.
So, I want to ask you guys from time to time, if it would be ok to quote you, and having said this in advance, it wouldnt be such a wierd thing.

One concern is if may affect people's feelings and sponteneity about sharing, but on the other hand ..... if your experience can help others, who knows, maybe even bring understanding and hope where it can save lives, then I'd hope it will be worth it.
The website isnt ready enough to go public yet, but soon as it does, you guys here will be invited to the cheese and wine preview, well..... pretend - cyber cheese and wine. ? Help with your experiences ? Help with your experiences

I dont know what the ultimate outcome of this endeavour will be, but I know I've been driven to do it, its been the driving force of my life for many months now.

River, I'd PM people when you see/find a quote you like and want to use and ask them personally? That might work better in case it's not even what we're saying but someone we've quoted ourselves or something :-)

Sounds like a really great project you're working on. ? Help with your experiences

Hi Perna,
Thanks for encouragement! ? Help with your experiences So much appreciated!

Yes, I'd normally do that, but even that, I began to worry about doing, and theres someone here who I'd love to quote, but cant pm her, its a .....not accepting pms at present one. So, I thought I'd better say something out in the open first.

> I want recovery myself, and have found therapy impossible...

There must be some therapists who understand -- I keep telling myself...

And yes, please keep on with the Web site...

Thanks for this!
Does this imply you had difficulty with doing therapy as well?

In the past, yes, a lot. I still do, but I think I am getting a better handle on it now, even though it is still up and down. With the aid of books both on psychological topics and the stories of people with major difficulties of all kinds.
