I woke up 3 times in 5 1/2 hours from nightmares. I usually only have 1 per night, sometimes I go a few nights with none at all. Last night was different though...instead of having one nightmare about one specific trauma, I had 3 nightmares that were all a mix of several different traumas, from smaller ones to the largest one. I don't want to trigger so I won't go into details. It was just weird because usually the nightmares are very specific and more like a flashback where it is like re-living it exactly the way it happened, and this time it was pieces of different things mixed together in strange ways. This ever happen to anyone else? Thanks...

Hi Grizmom--I get them like that alot. Varying multiples at a stretch.--Then I try to calm myself, look over at the dog, reassure myself all is right with the world, and try to go back to "sleep". I've been told by my Doc this isn't really sleep at all, so they keep trying different meds on me, but i think the meds are making it all worse. What do I know? So I don't get much sleep at all. I drink alot of decaf sleepy tea,
use lavander on my hands , try to knit, and try to meditate...Hope you have better luck with it than I have------I wish for you deep, kind sleep-hugs-theo |

When I was in therapy I would get nights like that. Sometimes the dreams would relate to each other and other times they'd just be similar topics or totally different subjects.
Can you get a nap today? I hated having bad nights and having to get up and do work the next day with messed up thinking and loss of sleep both. I did write down my dreams though and kind of track them and shared some of them and what I thought about them with my therapist, etc. It helped to get someone else looking at them in person and comforting/reassuring me and looking at them "together" so I didn't feel so alone with them.

Thanks for the input everyone...I stayed awake for a couple of hours and then took my anti-anxiety med and slept (no dreams or nightmares) for about 6 hours, so I caught up a bit. I try to write the dreams down, and sometimes I do a good job of getting details and sometimes it just looks like random words the next day. I guess it depends on how out of it I am when I'm writing them down. Thanks again!
