Just writing to kind of ease my thoughts. I am going to see my therapist today (which luckily I know her since I saw her for about a year for a different issue 12 years ago). But I am nervous about talking about what happened 4 years ago.

I know it's silly since a lot of people have been through a heck of a lot more than I, but nonetheless still a little unnerving. That paired with the fact that I feel like it's not worth talking about, or that I am wasting her time, or that it will be something that isn't what she thinks we should focus on today (its my 3rd visit).

Basically I just need to get it off my mind!

(((Wolfin 3)))),

If you need to talk about something, get it off your mind, then you should just talk about it. You cannot weigh and balance YOUR concerns against the ISSUES OF OTHERS. All that does is encourage you to conceal what you need to get out and discuss to heal. Your therapist is not there to judge you and will be pleased that you are making the effort to discuss the things that bother you. It really is NOT about the size of an issue, whatever you need to discuss should be discussed. Therapy is about YOU, not about YOU IN COMPARRISION TO OTHERS.

Give yourself permission to just take care of YOU, that is what therapy is for.

(((Wolfin 3))),

Good, that is the whole point, you need to smile again. You need to be able to feel safe in therapy with your therapist. You need to just take in a deep breath, relax and just talk openly.

When we get therapy we are not there to be judged or hold back. When we enter into therapy we are making an agreement with ourselves to allow ourselves to actually heal. The therapist's job is to HELP US do just that. Your are there to turn over every stone, big ones, small ones and even the pebbles that trouble you in some way, some of the pebbles that get solved can lead to solving the bigger picture in our ability to resolve and heal overall.

I have found that the pebbles that I need to be validated really add up are they are important in the overall picture and also to just have the therapist give you permission to feel free to actually do the pebble turning. Every little piece discussed and resolved helps.

Well, I didn't manage to talk fully about the incident, but I did get to tell her some of the flashbacks and things that I am dealing with. It was helpful, although right now I am feeling like it is more real than ever. Grr.
But I guess that is part of healing too, right?

She did suggest making like a "safe place" to replace the flashback images with, which is actually helping me fall asleep better at night. So, all in all, glad I went. Kinda looking forward to next week; maybe I can actually open up about it all and just let it go. Who knows? Thank you for all the kind words.

Good for you wolfin you did something great today and took a step forward. One day the incident will start to tumble out, mine did. I can't say it was easy but I'm glad now, it makes it nicer to feel the trust in my pdocs. I know they care about me , I can feel it and it's good. We are just humans with big secrets that are eating at us, take the power back. Sounds good when I say it I wish I could do it to.
