I began a new thread cuz even I am tired of reading about my flares! I put this one in PTSD because I did nothing physical to cause this flare... it's all because of the body's overreaction to stress this time. Some new year, eh? Should auld acquaintance be forgot? YES! if that means any acquaintance with stress and pain! pain flare again

The more I try to calm the worse I get... the more emphasis I give the pain.. the worse the pain becomes(or feels like it)

I didn't even go eat today (good thing I still have some soup left.) I did run out of dog treats and he's giving me "grief" about that!

I slept with the TENS on with 6 electrodes and yes, I did get some sleep... a few hours... The measures I'm taking are helping... ice packs, heat, TENS etc medicine... the hardest part right now is to realize I can't DO anything... my mind sees checks to write, a load of laundry.. etc no, I just cannot.. or I'll flare back into impossible again.

I didn't go to ER... and if I don't get any worse than this I will make it til PT on Tuesday.

((hugs back)))) to all of you pain flare again It just has to be a better year, right?

_Sky,

Did it take you a while to get used to the TENS?

I can't seem to adjust. I don't know if it's because I am already on pins and needles that maybe the "jolt" freaks me out...

Oh. Well, the very first time I used one was the first month after the injury, and it was for my jaw.. big white sticky pads.. lol I didn't care it took away so much of the pain! I looked like I was from out of space (or that's how ppl looked at me!)

I now have a fancier TENS that the PT sets the patterning according to the area of the body and what kind of response I need. It's an adjustable one (I think all of them have some adjustments allowed.. go into the control panel/plate and play!) I can't do the totally off and then burst on.. not at all. So I tend to have a pattern that stays on the same intensity, but changes whether it's a little beading effect or a buzzing or well, those aren't offical word descriptives. hehehe

Thanks. Well, I have managed this flare a little more strenuously, and have had some relief times... but then all the stress has weakened my immune system and I'm running fever, chills, sinus problems unbelievable. My appts are later tomorrow than normal, not sure I will be able to go to PT as he doesn't want anyone with any kind of sniffles around (and I need pt! haven't had any pt since Thursday.)

My T, however, will see me, I know. He says most of his ptsd patients are sick most of the time. I don't like this... it's really tough to think I will not get sick, I will not... and then get sick anyway. No control over this either? I'm "fisting" while sleeping again... and also tensing most of my body while trying to sleep.. why or how this happens I don't know... will ask PT and T I guess, if I remember above other subjects.

Sorry if I'm boring anyone.

rain clouds fill the sky and then scatter again.. sigh I still get triggered. (hey, that's a haiku!)

Too much on this body. I didn't make it to PT today as he's a germophobic... and barely lasted through T tremors ..from fatigue wasn't terrible when I got there..

arrrgghhhhh! I'm "sick as a dog"... (T didn't mind)

I just found out that I don't have any other PT appts.. because they had forgotten to schedule me into January and today's was the only time this week... I need 3x a week of physical therapy...and because of the holidays and PT's vacation/seminars.. I haven' had PT but maybe 8 times in 5 weeks? (part of the reason I'm battling pain flares!)

My mom called and added stress (I tried to ward it off pain flare again)

I wasn't feeling up to going to eat.. but know I need something, especially battling congestion... I opened a can of soup and nuked it.. and promptly spilled it taking it out of the microwave (dog licked up floor) so.. trying to relax and all.. took a hot tub.. and realized I had spilled soup on my leg and foot..and it's burned. (I have neuropathy.. and had been complaining to PT how I've lost even more feeling in right foot these last few weeks.. yep I spilled soup on the right leg/foot...didn't know it.)

LIFE is stress. I hate it.

Sky, your day sounds pretty frustrating. I hope that you can recover quickly from being sick, and that PT will get you in soon. I think I'd be thinking of anyplace else to get some pain relief - massage, chiropractor, ..., except it would be hard to trust them not to make it worse. You probably need to stay with someone who is an expert and familiar with what's going on with you particularly. I just wish that there were some way I could make it better.

TKs... I should be able to at least see another pt in that office.. I would have to be worked in...and I don't have the energy... I have tremors from fatigue already. Sorry, I don't mean to whine... I see T tomorrow again... and it isn't like things are going to change before then anyway. pain flare again

Sigh. update for those reading along (thanks)

I do have one card saying I have a pt appt tomorrow pain flare again I'm going anyway, taking the card to "prove it" if I have to.I'm still feeling poorly, but not infectious like I have been.(And maybe by tomorrow I won't be spiking a fever on and off?)

Then I'll go on to T. They are building a new building next door, right outside T's office... today they clanged some scaffolding (or other metal objects) and really caught my attention. T was asking what that did to me.. .ugh. When I was injured, my communications went out with the collapse... so I stood clanging a piece of metal against a metal pole, trying to get someone's attention (hello? A thunderstorm, yes, but what's that sound??) It didn't work, btw. Just what anyone needs when already flaring? more triggers and stress responses. I don't think so.

I get a shot of pain and T asks, what -or where- was that? And here I didn't think my reactions were so noticable. grrrr I'm dealing with tremors... mainly fatigue. Have to make it an early night tonight... or I'll go under for sure. pain flare again

I'm managing my pain. At least it's manageable right now. The PT worked me in today.. and agreed that I am losing more feeling in my foot and ankle... I also asked him why my "creaking" hurts me, and everyone else IRL can crack their ankle or knee and not feel a thing. He explained that my cracking is bones that were out going back in, thus my pain.. and other's are like pops when the joints release the ?CO2 I think.. air pockets... so no pains.

My T and I discussed, more fully...again... about future mobility needs and what to do... I need a motorized wheelchair, and some way to transport it. Maybe I'll post more on this in a different thread some other time. Anyway, T was, again, so very supportive. He even helped me make a decision on what to eat tonight... I've been having trouble with such basic choices. pain flare again

It's going to drop into the 30s this weekend (very cold for south Florida!) T was even concerned that I keep house warm enough (but not too warm, as that drains me of energy)... and wants me on bed rest. I couldn't do anything anyway, but since being so ill this week, I have to ward off pneumonia, too.

Other than that Mrs. Lincoln... pain flare again

Thanks for keeping us updated. I'm not usually sure what to say, as I don't know that it would help, but I'm reading and I care, and I hope that you feel better.
