I just took the sanity quiz and scored 159. I know I need to be in therapy, but I have problems w/those who r supposed to be helping me. They usually get mad @ me for not getting better. Does anyone else have these problems? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

yes, i had that problem, not responding as they wished, not respecting authority and not being "compliant", as if i was not doing the best i could, and they should have been the ones changing to help me~!
i know the pain and frustration of that, diminishing soul,,, and hope you find a good friend somewhere ~ maybe here~ best wishes~ Gus ![]()

I tend to feel that way... I am very opinionated about my treatment also, and that gets in the way at times. If they don;t really know me well, they think I'm just a pain in the butt and refusing help. It's really that I know what doesn't work for me, and am starting to figure out what does... Maybe you can keep looking until you fond someone willing to sit through the learning phase?

Good Lord, do I have problems. It seems like the only way to get along with mental health employees is to say as little as possible and and agree with everything they say. And lie if I have to. I am considering what I might do to cope with things on my own, in order to stay away from psychiatrists, etc. as much as possible.

((diminishing soul)),
It depends on what you are getting better from. PTSD can occur from one traumatic event or it can include suffering abuse/neglect that can go back to a childhood. If you are talking about professionals that have been frustrated with your "not getting better", well, it could be due to their just being "lousy" therapists/psychiatrists when it comes to treating PTSD patients. I have had my own share of "bad therapy" and I have talked to several that share experiencing "bad therapy". Once you fit with a therapist and experience "good therapy"? Then you will be sure how "deficient" other therapists may have been. What also helps is to get a therapist that is around your age who has the life experiences that you do. A young therapist may not be able to be the right fit and understand "where you are in your life". If you are talking about family and friends, well, unless they spend time with your T and more than once too, they are not going to be supportive and understanding. I have experienced that myself so I know how that can "aggravate" the PTSD. ((Hugs)) OE |

My T in the beginning invited attachment, said my work with me was interesting and rewarding, even send me e-mails after session asking how I was doing. He became involved in a venture I wanted to take up in the future when I was recovered and pushed me to fast. I became overwhelmed and regressed fast. Well he kind of slammed the door in my face so to speak. His entire attitude changed, he went from a coach, mentor and full support system to a typical 50min session times up have a nice week therapist. Turned a cold shoulder and I am left scratching my head and feeling abandoned and unworthy. Like I did not make the cut, like he thought I was going to better than the rest, a star client. Like I let him down. Therapy sometimes can do more damage.

When a child’s emotional needs are not met and a child is repeatedly hurt and abused, this deeply and profoundly affects the child’s development. Wanting those unmet childhood needs in adulthood. Looking for safety, protection, being cherished and loved can often be normal unmet needs in childhood, and the survivor searches for these in other adults. This can be where survivors search for mother and father figures. Transference issues in counseling can occur and this is normal for childhood abuse survivors. |

I definently understand, have been dealing with the VA. for 7 years for ptsd, mdd w/ psychosis, and of course the big one. The famous we can't fix it, personality disorder.
during my treatment for ptsd, my t moved to maine and I was suppose to see another t, as per his recommendation. What occurred was, the one on one therapy stopped and I was thrown into large groups sessions which aggrievated my symptoms and have made things worse. Because the meds and group therapy was not helping w/ the ptsd, I have now been forced to endure a once weekly small mens group for a personality disorder. Is there any truth to psychiatry? I would really wonder, it seems the VA has done this for one specific reason.... No compensation and or treatment, and here buddy, here is your sign, go stand on the street corner! Seek out a professional, because there are way to many narcissist idiots out their calling themselves psychiatrist...Just my opinion, mark |

I have a hard time getting anything out of therapy because I have an attachment disorder. I also have severe symptomatic reactions to their parental-type of role.
