If I don't get motivated right away in the morning to do something, anything productive I berate myself all day. Which leads to feeling bad about myself. Which leads to feeling depressed. Which leads to me doing nothing. How do I stop this cycle?

I used to have the same problem - and to be honest when things aren't going well I still do at times.

The best thing for me was to get straight up in the mornings and do something. Even something small but that was productive - shower, feed the dogs, wash up. It gave me the boost and then I just kept trying to remind myself that I had done well and since I was up I should keep going. Some days were harder than others but eventually it became habit
Thanks for this!

I've learned I can always start the day over. Any time of day, get back in the shower and put on the tea kettle. Restart.

I've also learned bad Dreams can ruin the next day. 375mg GABA powder in water at sundown and another before bed will prevent nightmares without disrupting Dreams. Read about GABA. It can heal you.

But sometimes the day just doesn't start right. Im very serious about starting again from the shower. You might lose an hour doing the whole morning routine over but the rest of the day will be good.

Hi,

First let me say, nice to meet you. I am new to the forum and hope to help others and also help myself I am exactly the same, in fact I get pretty upset if I am actually having a good day (for a change) and someone or something really brings me down.
It is very challenging to get motivated. I have struggled my entire life with that. What I have found recently is typing about my life has helped. It is reprocessing which when written skillfully I pray it becomes a great autobiography. Have I worked on it in a month? no! I go on to the next method which is an inspiration board. I am disabled also and have add with a panic disorder so it gets super challenging. Ok the board may not help so I have been working with crystals. I find quartz very healing and I meditate with sage and all my crystals around. This is great if I only stick to it, it seems the only thing I manage to do is housework. I suppose I am not being the best help but maybe to know you are not alone is help somewhat? I hope so. I think that through this site we can find motivation, inspiration and hope. My mantra is be grateful, it is so hard to live with PTSD and some days its ok to just lay in bed and give yourself a "mental health day".
When I am in good therapy and my pain isn't a constant 8 I find it rather exciting to create my wellness plan. I spend about 5 hours a day on me. 1. Reading positive thoughts, eating a healthy breakfast, make the bed, stretch, listen to Wayne Dwyer or someone who inspires you, meditate, yoga, stationary bike, gentle stretch, core exercise then another gentle yoga. I give myself one hour to get ready when noone is home so I am not anxious about them judging me for how long I take. Dr. Bronners peppermint has saved my life (for real) ust inhaling the vapors is motivation enough. It really is different for everyone but I have found that repetition is key. I am sorry for the diatribe, my adderall is not working today. please keep in touch if you like. maybe something I said is of use to you. Oh, a book to keep in mind..The ptsd cure. I hope I didn't just break the rules. I find that the more insight we have, the stronger we become.
Be well.
p.s. I can't help with the day being ruined for I have not figured that one out yet myself :?
