Been hearing wierd noises that aren't there. It was really bad today... usually it is not something that bothers me a lot but it did today because it kept coming. Do any of you experience this? It doesn't have anything to do with any past traumatic events I think... can't see how the noises should fit into any of those. Just wondering if it is normal?

Noises can be VERY exaggerated for me when I'm in high PTSD mode, or extremely anxious.
Could it be small noises of something there that feels/sounds really exaggerated? If not, maybe you want to keep track of what they're like, when they come, etc? I hope you have a better evening than day (((((((isthis))))))) KD

The only time this happened to me, it turned out to be a med side effect (too high a dose for me). Could that be it?

I haven't had that experience. What I have experienced is certain odors from the past coming back. Some are very unpleasant and upsetting.
Hope you can get to the bottom of it and find out what's causing it. |

That must be scary for you, sweetie. I am sorry. I have not had that experience, personally, but I have been very sure that someone was behind me, lurking (when there clearly wasn't). Kind of the same thing? PM me if you need to chat, or just PM me to tell me how you are doing, o.k.? Hang in there, kiddo. Desy ![]() |

Thanks for all the suggestions, maybe I should give an example.
Sometimes I sit in my room and I hear someone coming home. Just like the sound my dad or my mom makes when they come in the door and walk up the stairs to my room, except they don't. Noone is there when I go look. The specific day I was talking about I kept hearing faint music. Like someone forgot to turn off their MP3 player. All day... and it wasn't mine, even when I was alone. When driving to school I have heard our swing move... and I heard that twice the same trip. It is strange.. I mean I can't think of any connection with my current mood or why I hear those things. They have no special meaning to me. Sometimes it's the same with seeing things. Like I see a spider crawling on the floor but it isn't there. I'm not even scared of spiders. Really it makes no sense. As I said before I've experienced these things before but they are getting more frequent. I suppose it's normal to have these things sometimes.. I guess it is a little like believing someone is following you when you're alone on a dark night... gives me that same kind of feeling.. like nervous.. isolated.. alone. Like I can tell myself it isn't there but I don't really believe it. |

</font> Hey I have PTSD and am bipolar and I hear things like people coming home, voices and certain sounds. I take meds that work pretty good but not all the time. Usually I am manic when I hear them. It's a good sign that I need to relax, or get more sleep. Maybe talk to your doc, I take Abilify and the noises are going away....

I have been having odors do that a lot to me lately. When I am more aware of sounds I call that hypersensitivity and PTSD.I'm sorry thats a rough position to be in HUGS TO YOU.

Thanks CrazyJoy and Smilie
It could be because of not sleeping and not being able to relax. I had to go to a doctor today because I kept shaking and he gave me pills to take so I can sleep. I'm scared to take them tho, I do not like meds, but I suppose I will have to, or probably my brother will force feed it to me, cause he was the one who took me to the doctor. The doctor said I need to relax and rest but it's not so easy. Hugs back to you Smilie, and welcome CrazyJoy |

(((hugs))) Please do take the sleep meds Is this... lack of restorative sleep can cause really big problems, not to mention how unsafe we become when trying to live life without adequate sleep! TC sweet dreams.

Yay I took meds and got my sleep. I feel more relaxed now. I am still shaking, and still hearing those sounds, but it is not as bad. I feel safer, it is probably just gonna take some time to calm down. Things are looking up

I take a skepticism and logic class in school, it's a class about crazy things that happen, why sertain things happen, etc. On the first day my teacher brought up sounds, hearing sounds. He said sometimes when you hear something or your used to hear something, you hear it in your head.
Ex: If your used to hear a cellphone vibrate, sometiems you may hear or feel it, but you check your phone and there's nothing there. My teacher also said it may happen with family voices, ringtones...basicly things you are used to hearing or used to hear for a long time then it just stopped. Hope that helped a little.

Yeah I know a lot of people have forgotten things from their past, but I think I pretty much remember everything. I mean sure there things I don't think about but I know I know they're there. I mean I know what it is I just don't htink about it.
Hmm I suppose it could be kind of the thing u are telling about littlemissjess, would they make you panicky? |

I always thought I was weird when I thought my cell phone would vibrate, hear a voice, hear ringing noise in your ear, and this even includes when you think you see things move out of the corner of your eye.
It could make you panicky I guess. It probably depends what the noise is and what effect the noise is on you. If the noise reminds you of something bad that happened, then it probably would make you panicky. I always thought I was going crazy when I would see things from the corner of my eye. But when I started this class my teacher asked us the second day how many people experience those types of things and I was surprised when the whole class raised their hands. It's interesting we learn about dreams and why sertain things happen. It's cool. http://skepdic.com/ <- that's a good website to look at if you're interested in it.
