Hello all!
I'm new to the forum, but I've enjoyed and/or learned much from what I've read so far. I have a question for any who may care to reply. Does anyone have any good experiences with EMDR therapy that they'd like to share? I was in therapy briefly with a fantastic therapist who wanted to use EMDR with me. Unfortunately, I've had to move and so will have to find a new therapist. I'm trying to decide if I should find someone that uses EMDR. Thank you! |

Welcome to our crazy crazy world...(no offense anyone)
We're glad that you've stopped by; I'm sure that you'll find this site to be quite educational, and the people here quite friendly and extremely supportive. As far as your question about EMDR I have no firsthand knowlege of this type of therapy, but there are numerous recources available to do more research on this matter. I hope you find what you're looking for, and find the peace we've all been searching for. Blessings, J |

HI!
My experience with EMDR was amazing!!! I had been trying to move through a memory for years and couldn't. In my first session of EMDR I accomplished what I had been trying for all that time. Every EMDR session was incredable! It wasn't easy work but the results were awesome. I used the EMDR in addition to regular therapy and medication for depression. If you have PTSD I would recommend it whole heartedly! Good luck to you! Annie |

I know people who have used EMDR and have found it very helpful.
<blockquote><font size=1>In reply to:</font><hr> Patients who have suffered for years from PTSD, anxiety distressing memories, nightmares, insomnia, abuse or other traumatic events can now gain relief from a revolutionary new therapy called EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing). This powerful short-term therapy is highly effective for a wide range of disorders including chronic pain, phobias, depression, stress, panic attacks, eating disorders and poor self-image. Research shows that EMDR Therapy is fast, safe and effective. EMDR does not involve the use of drugs or hypnosis. It is a simple, non-invasive patient-therapist collaboration in which healing can happen effectively. Many patients who have made slow progress in the past, or who have not benefited from more traditional therapies say that with EMDR they have finally found something that works for them! <hr></blockquote> <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.emdr.com/>http://www.emdr.com/</A> This website has alot of information on this therapy. <font color=red>~Sundance~</font color=red> <font color=blue>"Never react emotionally to criticism. Welcome! Like sundance, I have heard of many ppl who have been helped by this. I, personally, am hypnotized quite easily, and therefore could not stay "conscious" long enough to do any work with it.

I loved EMDR! As someone else said, it really worked to open up some blocked memories. Unfortunately, I had to give up the therapist who did it with me and haven't found another who works with it. But I'm making really good progress with my current therapist, too, which leads me to believe it might just have been a crappy therapist leading to my slow progress all that time. :-)
