Perhaps complex ptsd is not a disability but ptsd is. I find it hilarious that some people with complex ptsd have such an aversion to disabilities. That's kind of insulting to those who have disabilities. On the ptsd side of the coin when it comes to social security if ptsd has affected your ability to work, yeah, you have a disability. A disability is not something you recover from or overcome it's something you adapt to and manage. Good for you if your ptsd is not disabling. Don't shun us who are disabled by it. We still live productive lives. And medication makes that possible. You can't fix your adolescent brain with your adult brain. If your limbic system was damaged by trauma there's no spiritual or psychological cure for that. It's a physical problem that needs a physical solution. So irritating!

Perhaps this is the right forum I don't mean me. I don't care. I'm just irritated by their attitudes.

No,PTSD is not a disability for everyone. As I said in the other thread you are referring to it's a disorder, but some can become disabled by it while others don't.

Just being diagnosed doesn't automatically qualify it as a disability.

Also, nobody is shunning you for being disabled, just stating that not everyone is,which is a fact, and nothing against you personally.

Perhaps this is the right forum I couldn't care less what ppl think about me, I just find it absurd that ppl claim to have ptsd then deny it's a disability. Perhaps neither of these forums is right for me.

Nobody's saying it's not a disability for you, just speaking of our own experiences.

I have PTSD but I'm sure if I applied for SSI I would be denied because I am able to function,I am able to work.Just being diagnosed with it doesn't automatically qualify me as disabled and entitled to benefits.

It's considered a disorder, not a disability, but for you it sounds like it has disabled you.

Why is it not ok with you that not everyone is disabled by it?

Perhaps this is the right forum Perhaps this is the right forum I don't have anything further to say. I tried to have my own conversation on my own thread so I could have my own point of view but apparently you're not going to let me do that. Ok. You're relatively new around here.

I only replied here in order to correct your false information that PTSD is a disability when it is a disorder which can/may disable some that have it but not everyone.

But,go ahead and continue with your conversation,I will butt out.

Perhaps this is the right forum you're misinterpreting me. I found out I had ptsd from an employment counselor. You can live with a disability for a long time without even knowing you have one. That's cool your ptsd isn't that severe.
