so I heard that they've reopened the school, and they are all going back to class now.

the building where the ataqck took place,e is never going to reopen, but the rest of the school is.

must be such a difficult time..

also (and slightly more upsetting)

Possible trigger:

how sad that an X student would do that to his own school

It is very sad shattered. No reason s on for any one to own an AR-15 but the military and certain police officers. Kids that young should never be able to buy a gun never mind an automatic weapon of war. I feel so for those families that lost children. So senseless.

Shattered, there's a thread in the CPTSD Forum on this topic, too, incase it interests you.

It's a tragedy.
We need to do a better job of keeping schools safe.

Did anyone see one of the survivor practices shooting a gun and they were suspend and the parent complain about the school interfering outside the school? The student posted it on YouTube and one of his friend report it to the school and the student was suspended. Do anyone feel the school was in the wrong?

The whole thing makes me sick to my tummy. Those poor children who were killed & their families. And the whole school, students and teachers have had their lives changed by the event & is something that will be with them forever now. Our kids should not have to worry about being attacked in school. Nobody should. I just can't imagine going back to the school after that. Until we find a way to keep weapons out of the hands of those who have no respect for fellow humans it won't stop. But it's more than that IMO. It's how mean, angry, hopeless, threatened, entitled, unfair, violent, sad etc. etc. our society is. It's so hard after violence not to feel like you have to do something to protect yourself, so I understand to a point that other kid thinking he needed to learn to shoot in an effort to not ever feel helpless in an attack, but putting it out there on social media . . . what did they expect to happen? Everyone is on edge and if you have a kid posting pics with a gun it's going to get a reaction. I don't know, the whole thing just freaks me out & brings back so many awful memories.

I completely understand how you feel. In a way I understand why the parent decide to teach their kid to shoot a gun out of protection. But I also understand the school reaction especially after what had happen recently. The fear of seeing a student shooting a gun that run through my mind is that could be a family member who I would lose to gun violence because the student know how to fire a gun. Is this the next person harming our family?
