I was laying in bed, drifting off to sleep. I was almost asleep when all of a sudden a strong memory popped into my head. It jolted me wide awake and I felt like little electric shocks were going all through my body....I started breathing really fast and felt extremely anxious. After a few minutes I felt calmer but I still felt like I had little pin pricks where the electric shocks had been.
The memory was not of the abuse, but of the first time I met with my therapist and told him about the abuse......

What was this...has anyone experienced anything like this?
ktgirl please help me understand this...

I've experienced something like that before.

In my case, I've had problems with telling people of what happened to me, I felt sure that I was bad and would be punished. I'd get sort of a slapped down feeling afterwards.

I've had those little electrical shock type feeling stuff also.

The drifting off stage of sleep is a real interesting state: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypnagogia

No, I haven't talked to my therapist about it.....I would feel incredibly stupid bringing it up. I was very anxious about just writing it here.
Thanks for your words of understanding, Silver....they helped.
best,
kt
