Has any of you ever gotten "frozen" as I like to call it but catatonic is the actual word.

I get close sometimes to catatonia. People do not understand it but I do.

I get this way when I am really scared; it's a form of dissociation. People call it different things, but I think of it as "being in the void."

When do you get frozen?

I have started keeping a log as it is happening about 3 times a day. Surprisingly it seems to happen in a pattern though I have difficulty figuring out the triggers. The windows that they come at 11am- 1 pm, 3-4:30, then again at 9 pm ish. It is really quite scary as one time I was "sleeping" in and so my husband didn't check on me. It lasted from 11 am till 2pm. It has made me very paranoid about when it will hit again and how to make sure that they know how to deal with it. The thing that really bugs me is that we have had to educate my 15yr old daughter. It could be a conflict with meds or anxiety (of what I don't know as the circumctances change every time. thank for the input as that helps me to remember that I am not the only one.

Sometimes in therapy I become frozen. I can't talk, I can't move I'm just numb. I know it's my mind trying to protect itself but it is in those frozen and silent times where the madness is so loud and the little one inside is screaming to get out and be well.

that's exactly it! I turn into a frozen blob that cant think of feel or speak - but inside - down in the darkest part - a child is screaming to be let out - to be free and run away from the darkness that shes lived in forever - i close my eyes and wait for it to pass.....

Weyered up - have you discussed this with you dr? if you think it could be meds then they could look at that for you -mine i think is triggered by stress -my T said its my brains way of shutting everythng down till it felt safe to start again - a bit like re-booting a computer when it freezes on you - take care everyone P7
