I've been on Wellbutrin XL 450mg for 3 1/2 months. The biggest side effect is not sleeping. Anyone have any experience with this med? What did you do for the not sleeping? I have to take 20mg of Ambien to get any sleep. The Wellbutrin does seem to be working. I'am also on Prozac 40mg qd, Synthroid 112mcgs qd, and Geodon 40mg bid.

I'm on Wellbutrin XL 300 and don't sleep that well either. Of course i take other crap too. I blame my insomnia on that one though. And my shakiness, and my non-ability to get my thoughts out correctly... etc....

hi, i had the same problem with wellbutrin, but was otherwise very happy with its performance. i actually had less trouble with the wellbutrin xl, than with the wellbutrin sr. i found that if i take it in the morning that helps.

but what helped even more than that was when my doctor prescribed a small dosage of desyrel to take before bed every night. it's an antidepressant, with some sedative qualities. i take 12.5 mgs usually, 25 mgs if i'm having extra difficulty falling/staying asleep. it helps me to sleep more soundly, and usually i can wake up after 6-9 hours feeling a little groggy, but well-rested enough to get out of bed. this is a huge deal for me, as usually when i'm depressed i sleep for 15 hours at a time! i had tried ambien, and sonata, but the desyrel seems a lot less likely to cause long-term depressive symptoms (as it's an antidepressant).

good luck!
