It's called tinnitus, and it's a fairly common response to medication, and one more likely to occur with age.
It's relatively rare with Lamictal, but it could conceivably be part of an interaction between meds, as well. Often, the only relief is to withdraw from the offending med. You should consult your doctor. Lar |

Thanks for the response......yes, I am going to speak with my pdoc tomorrow regarding the issues with the lamictal. My GP is working on the thyroid concerns at the moment (not quite sure if any of this is related to eachother). Unfortunately, after all these years on meds, I should have expected some long term problems. Oh well.......I do think stopping the lamictal is helping the ringing........it may only be on one side now.........but it also may be just wishful thinking.

daisy, my brother complained of that same thing. he also complained of all of the other symptoms as well, but his ears were really bad when he was on the higher dose. however, he had tinnitus before starting it. the lamactal just made it much worse. he ended up going on risperdal and is doing much better all the way around.
gl and let us know! kd
