60 mg. a day is not considered HIGH from what I can find, but it is on the "high end". Having just talked to my favorite psychiatrist, he really likes to use Celexa in patients who are depressed with suicidal thoughts, mainly because it has less side effects and does not usually cause a problem with other medications. He normally does not go over 80 mg a day UNLESS he has seen drastic improvement in his patients after starting it. He has prescribed as much as 120 mg a day on several patients, but he said that is not common. So, I still have not really answered your question, but I tried to learn more about Celexa and doseaging.

How long have you been taking it and did you start at 20 or 40 mgs. a day?

I started at 20, 2 months later went to 40mg now after 4 months of that doctor wants me to take 60mg.
I want off my meds in general but was wondering if 60mg of celexa was too much.
Thanks for your input and research!

No it isn't considered hi. I was on celexa for awhile, but not that high of a dose, I had to get off of it because I couldn't tolerate the side effects...

Everything, dizzyiness, irritation, alot of anxiety, depression, nausea, jitteriness, shakes, almost like getting electic shocks...

The worse for me after being on it for 10 weeks and feeling like crap mainly anxiety increased, irritability etc my psychitrist advised me to switch as I couldn't tolerate it on the smallest dose.

Again everyone is different, Celexa was the only drug that I had alot of problems with so far when I started it.
