I'm taking celexa on top of Effexor for depression and anxiety. It did help pull me out of a particularly nasty depression which hospitalized me last summer.

Celexa has helped me a great deal, and I'm sure it will work for you.

The only problem I have had with it is sexual side effects, namely low libido. Well, no libido. But my pdoc prescribed Wellbutrin on top of the Celexa to counter that side effect, still waiting for it to work.

I was a bit foggy the first few days on Celexa too, it passes, believe me. It has made a huge difference.

they tried me on it, but my body seemed to work against it. I had about 80% of the side effects listed on the little pamphlet that comes from the drug store.

I feel like its making me more depressed. But I guess thats because I had "no feelings" at the begaining of this. I am soooo sleepy all the time does this go away? I wanted to cut back to 10mg to maybe "even " out a little has anyone donte this and would it cause alot of side effects since I have been taking it such a short time?

my friend took celexa and said it made him feel worse not to say it won't help you. I took it for about five days and I woke up in the morning, feeling almost too high from it, although I drank quite abit the night before if that has anything to do with it.

It helped me. I'm bipolar and ended up at the psych ward during a depressive episode. It got me through that. Now I've been without it since the end of February and managing well.

I think celexa has had a very positive effect on me. I would say it took me back to a place of calm about alot of things, especially my health.

I was on celexa for about a year, then it quit working for me. Ten days may not be enough time to get the full effect of the med. It usually takes 1-2 weeks to get any relief and up to 4-6 weeks to get the full effect of antidepressants.

Hey Mhouser,

I have been on 40mg's Celexa for 3 full months and have found a great deal of relief. My repetitive thoughts and panic attacks have decreased considerably and the panic attacks are not as severe.

I contribute my progress to finally admitting to myself that I had a big problem that HAD to be dealt with, seeking and getting the medical help I so desperately needed and well as finding a therapist I was VERY comfortable talking to while giving me validation as well as coping mechanisms.

Although I am feeling much better, its going to be a very long road to recovery. I have noticed that I have been feeling more depressed than normal, but I think that is due to the decrease of anxious feelings. I am going to the Dr. in about a week and I think I need to maybe adjust my meds, I don't know if that means increasing the dosage or trying something new. What I do know is that the Celexa has help me get to a point where I can start working on getting better.

I hope you find the right treatment for you, good luck!

Celexa was (still is) a life saver for ME - I would not be here today if I had not done my research two years ago and asked my doctor about taking Celexa for all the problems I suffer from..... I personally owe my life to Celexa.

I take Celexa @ 20 mg qd
I take Celexa @ 20mg 2x qd during my period for PMDD

I am on 20 mg of Celexa. I am very sensitive to meds and don't need high doses.

Celexa has saved me but I have 2 bad side effects which my doctor and I are currently trying to figure out.....hypersomnia and no sex drive.

I have also had weight gain.

I can definately function again though.

I've been taking it for almost 7 months, right now I'm at 40mg and it's helped me a lot. I feel a lot better than I did 7 months ago, the anxiety is a lot less and the depression is starting to get better too.
