As mentioned before, I am a newbie, but was wondering if I could get any help on this. I am currently on Zoloft and have been taking it for about 10 months now. I have just recently grown worried about some of its side effects. One thing that I have noticed, or rather, that has been pointed out to me by others, is that I have formed a sort of temper since I started this medication. It doesn't come out too often, but when it does, it's not very good. For a good portion of my life, I have been very timid. I had always preferred internalizing problems instead of talking about them because I had always thought that they would burden the people around me. This was partially what led to my depression. It is not like this anymore. It seems that since I have started taking the medication, that, when severely angered, I lash out - screaming at whoever angered me and completely disregarding their feelings. It has been somewhat hurting the relationship I am in now, but I've been working on controlling it. My boyfriend has expressed that when I "got that way," it frightened him because it didn't seem to be me at that moment. I have read things about Zoloft effecting this sort of thing, but I am not quite sure about it. The next time I will see my doctor will be in a couple of months. I am asking for any help or suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

Any chance you can talk with a health care person about your meds soon? And/or do you have access to any sort of "nurse line" where you can call and ask questions? Also, are you in therapy?

I myself had a bad reaction to Zoloft, fortunately the crisis line worker I happened upon knew to ask about my meds, knew that what I was reporting was probably med caused, and she was of great help. I was able also to see a psych nurse the next day.

In my oh so not-professional opinion, the medical part of what you are experiencing ideally will be addressed soon. That comes first.

Otherwise, do you have any way to vent the anger safely for now? Beat up a pillow? Scrawl words and images in a journal? Go for a fast walk?

I want to put in my vote though for -talk to a health care person soon- though above all.

One last idea if you aren't doing this already, keep records, jot down somewhere when you the severe anger and lashing out, keep track.

Good luck,
Sarah

((( ZoloftNews from the Big Mouthed unemployed Psych nurse)))))

Personally, I do not believe in Zoloft. I have seen nothing but bad side effects in ppl who are on it. According to the "official, legal Drug Guide Zoloft side effects include the following:

Zoloft"headache, tremors, dizziness, fatigue, heightened emotional responses, nervousness, anxiety & confusion, altered consciousness"

Zoloft This is probably what's causing your "outbursts"
and confusing responses to social stimuli........talk to your doctor immediatedly. I am not an OFFICIAL LICENSED MEDICATION AUTHORITY: I am only going by the book & what I have observed in my patients on Zoloft.

(for sake of "professional ethics" I will not say how I personally feel about Zoloft........except, it sucks. Zoloft)

OFFICIAL STATEMENT: Always consult your physician first!! Do not suddenly stop taking your medication until you have spoken to your physician. Zoloft

Well, I am at a college right now, so I can technically go in and talk to the nurse here, but I don't know if they have any doctors... I'll have to look more into all of this. My outbursts are usually provoked by a person arguing with me, and my current boyfriend has a hard time letting me go vent if we're in the middle of an argument/disagreement. I'm sure if I talk to him, he'll understand.
Thank you both!!

I agree Dayzee, ZOLOFT SUCKS. It was a horrible experience. At first it seemed fine but after a month and a half, things were so messed up I can't even remember about a 10 day span a few weeks ago. Been on Wellbutrin since Thursday and off the Zoloft for two weeks and I feel better every day. It's awesome. And the sexual side effects -- OY! not good. I have to say it's the worst med experience of my life.

Good luck everyone,
Kimberly.

My husband has been on Zoloft for almost 3 years. He experienced some tremors at the beginning, but they have gone away.

He's doing quite well on it and we're very pleased with it. He is on a low dosage so I don't know if that makes a difference. All in all, we really like the Zoloft.

Just goes to prove meds react differently with each person.

I do not have any personal experience with Zoloft so I dont know about any side effects. But 1day is right, all meds are different for each person.
