I have gotten weaned off Neurontin due to weight gain 40lbs and dental cavities . and now dr put me on topamax. Up to 100mg per day. so far so good . any feed back positive or naegative would be appreciated. this is for nerve pain thanks

Hi Razzle...I was on Neurontin for nerve pain and also at the time for headaches. At the time it helped me with both. This was back in 98. I went off of it in 2002 though because of questionable effects on the body.

I just started Topomax in the beginning of March for very bad Migraines (that got considerably worse) since that time back in 98-2002. I am doing very well on it. Also, one of the side effects on it is it can help take weight off.

I did not know until now though that it did help with nerve pain so that was good to find out. My migraines were so bad at the time they were going to put me in the hospital to break the cycle. I have many health problems and I don't like to go to doctors until I absolutely have to. Nor do I like to tell them all my problems, which I know isn't really the best thing to do.

Sometimes I just simply forget.

Anyways, this medicine has really helped me. I hope it helps you.

Are you starting in slow increments? I know that when I started it was first 25mg the first week. Then 50mg the second followed by 75mg then 100mg and now I'm on 200mg.

Not sure if any of this was helpful, but I really hope this medicine helps you.

Hi Razzle,

I take Top for mood swings and it works great! Been on it for about 3 years now. I have nerve pain too, but i don't think that the Top has had any effect on that.
