My psychiatrist just put me on Provigil to help with energy, my moods, and to help take place of my meth cravings. She gave me samples and I don't start taking them until 5 days from now after I get my increased dosage of Abilify in my system a little bit. I was just wondering if anyone else takes this, or has taken this, and how it has/had effected you? I like to be informed on how medications work with people before I try it and this is a good start.

I'm taking Provigil, and I'm taking Abilify as well. Been taking it for maybe a year now. I don't see any noticeable results, unfortunately. I'm still the same old crazy lady Anyone taking Provigil?

I used to take it. I loved it because it gave me energy I wasn't sleeping til noon anymore.....it also gave me an elevated mood which was good since my previous mood was suicidal. It slowly quit working for me and so I don't take it anymore.

I take provigil and have been taking it for about eight months. I love it! It seems to boost my anti-depressant (cymbalta) and gives me this kind of positive, constructive energy. I was the first patient my md gave it to, but he really hasn't had too much success with it with other patients. With me, it wore off after three or four months, but when he boosted it to 400 mg qd all the positive effects came back. I've been sick with depression and PTSD for seven years and this med-combo with the provigil has enabled me to go back to college. So, all the best of luck!

Thanks for the responses... Maybe it'll have that same effect on me and won't wear off. I've had that problem with medications in the past as well... Energy is definetly something I need.

In my opinion anybody who has a good response to Provigil needs to be evaluated for ADHD too. ADHD folks will get some improvement in symptoms with Provigil, though it is a very, very expensive alternative to Ritalin (methylphenidate) which is probably a better, safer alternative to use in lethargic depression. Methamphetamine addicts especially raise the chance of co-occuring ADHD in my opinion.
